Alien Prequel Confirmed!

Brother Tony to Ridley Scott, the original director of Alien confirmed that Carl Rinsch will be directing the Alien's prequel which will focus on the backstory surrounding the Alien's home planet. Tony is quoted: “Yes, Carl Rinsch is going to do the prequel to Alien. He’s one of our directors at our company.”

The bad news is the Alien prequel is a Fox Studios property. It will most likely be a lame PG-13, non fan friendly show case of Aliens without story substance. The other bad news is Ridley Scott has nothing to do with it. The worse news is that based on the AVP series there is no chance this could be a good movie.

The good news? There is no good news about an Alien prequel. Even if Ridley and Tony Scott are on board as producers. The first move was perfect. Without Ridley Scott directing this film is doomed to Hollywood varnishing and ruin.

OK, maybe there is some good news. Predator is getting rebooted as Predators! Robert Rodriguez is taking on that failed franchise. Alright, I lied. The Predator news is just as bad.

The Alien prequel is slated to begin production by the end of 2009. No word on the film's targeted release date.

Dave Matthew Band Stream New Album!

Dave Matthews Band will release Big Whiskey and the GrooGrux King, the highly anticipated album following the death of band member Leroi Moore, on June 2. The album, a tribute to Leroi Moore, will be the band's first studio album in 4 years and will include the newly released single "Funny the Way It Is". This June marks the six year anniversary of the very first "Blue Sinatra" show! This band has been relentlessly touring up and down the East Coast for the past three years, made three independent studio albums, and experienced numerous crazy adventures! They have have had three songs on a web-series, opened for five national/international acts, suffered two broken bones, and lost one blue tour bus and they have just announced they are finally taking some time off from show!

Do not fret however! They will return!

The much needed break it is to "take a few deep breaths then get all of our many new songs and set ideas together....We’ll be spending our entire summer on a remote island in the South Pacific, writing, and working on the pre-production of our 4th album as well as a new live show that will be nothing like any Sinatra show you've ever seen. The Hunt For Gollum

Need a little Tolkien fix? Independent Online Cinema produced a not so short 45 minute feature of Strider on the hunt for Gollum. The time line is set early in Fellowship of the Ring when Gandalf had left the shire and Strider would then await them in Bree.

While the special effects are respectable and the acting is well and good, the story seems useless outside of filling in a small blank to the story.

It's a nice little piece of work that should keep people thinking about the next two Hobbit movies.

Demi Lovato Reveals New Album Title!

Demi Lovato has announced the title of her new album via her Twitter account! Her sophomore release will be called "Here We Go Again," and it is due out in July. Catch Demi on tour this summer with special guests David Archuleta, Jordan Pruitt and KSM where she promises to play some songs from the new record.

Here is how the press and media work. They build you up, then tear you down. And if they can, they build you up again so they can tear you down. It's a cycle.

Well, that cycle has begun for Susan Boyle in record time. No sooner has the British press embraced Susan Boyle has it looked for a way to tear her down.

In Britain today, Susan Boyle was taunted and verbally abused by locals to a point she lost control of her senses.

With police present, Susan Boyle reacted harshly and could be heard yelling by many onlookers in the lobby of the Wembley Plaza Hotel in North London, "How f***ing dare you! You can't f***ing talk to me like that."

The immediate reaction of the British press is to vilify Boyle, not the people that taunted her. This is the press in it's classic tear down mode after it has spent exhaustive effort in building her up.

Who among us doesn't have a breaking point? Who among us hasn't wanted to do something with their talent and done nothing with it? Susan Boyle is just a regular person thrust into a spot light. For her to lose her temper with people looking to abuse her and treat her inhumanely is completely acceptable.

Celebrities sometimes do not deserve our pity. Many love the spotlight and deserve to have a microscope put upon them. Susan Boyle is not one of them. Susan Boyle is you and I. She is one of us. A regular person that is a good person put in a hostile environment.

Jessica Simpson's new reality TV show

Jessica Simpson is set to star in a new reality TV show about women's body issues. The show will potentially be called The Price of Beauty and Simpson along with a friend will travel the world to discover different standards of beauty. The star was criticized for wearing unflattering jeans earlier this year, but she knows that being judged on her looks is all a part of her career. "It comes with what I do, and I know that every day the media's going to challenge me," Simpson said.

She plans to be very hands on with the show and will even try out some of the various things women do to make themselves beautiful. Nothing has been finalized with the show so far, but Simpson's rep has confirmed that she is working on a new show.

Michelle Williams Lands Role As "Roxie Hart"

Pretty cool news to report! Grammy-winning singer, acclaimed actress and Music World/Columbia Records artist Michelle Williams has landed the coveted role of murderous chorus girl Roxie Hart in the enormously popular West End production of "Chicago The Musical". "It's a real thrill to be given the opportunity to play Roxie Hart in the West End's spectacular production of 'Chicago,'" said Michelle Williams. Chicago is the seventh longest-running show in Broadway history and longest-running Broadway musical revival ever. The West End production which opened in November 1997 and won the 1998 Olivier Award for Outstanding Musical is the longest running Broadway musical ever to play in London.

Flawed American Idol votes?

Where you surprised by Kris Allen's American Idol win? The voting for the finale may have been flawed due to arrangements made by AT&T at various Kris Allen watch parties. AT&T representatives reportedly taught Kris Allen fans to power text at the parties. Fox declined to comment on the matter, but an AT&T representative said, "In Arkansas, we were invited to attend the local watch parties organized by the community. A few local employees brought a small number of demo phones with them and provided texting tutorials to those who were interested."

They taught the fans how to power text which allows them to send 10 or more texts at one time which could have affected to voting outcome. American Idol does have certain rules and regulations that can determine the validity of votes. As of right now it is not clear whether or not power texting violates these rules.

Is it really that big of a deal? There have never been any restrictions on the number of times a person can vote for American Idol. Both Kris and Adam will probably have successful music careers regardless of who won.

Criss Angel Added To Madame Tussauds

Madame Tussauds Las Vegas is proud to announce the unveiling of their latest wax creation of magician extraordinaire Criss Angel yesterday! Criss was signing autographs and taking souvenir photos with the kids from Make-A-Wish Foundation as well as other attendees and fans who were present at the private unveiling.

He was overwhelmed by the resemblance between himself and his figure, which was priced around $300,000 to create.

Memorial Day Weekend Box Office Results!

Wondering what happened the the movie box office this weekend? Here's the scoop:

20th Century Fox's Night at the Museum: Battle of the Smithsonian came in at #1 in the box office this weekend. We were surprised, we thought Terminator Salvation was definitely going to be #1. Terminator Salvation, the first movie without Arnold Schwarzenegger in the series, came in at #2 with Star Trek, Angels & Demons and Dance Flick following!

We saw Star Trek this weekend and loved it! A great space movie that we recommend! Already in release for three weeks, the sci-fi prequel is on its way to become the biggest-grossing film of the year! Plus, newcomer actor Chris Pine is very easy on the eyes!

Sad News: Mike Tyson's Toddler In Critical Condition

We know that Mike Tyson isn't everyone's favorite athlete, that's for sure. But this is still very sad news to report. The four-year-old daughter of Tyson is currently on life support and in "extremely critical condition" after she was found hanging Monday morning from a treadmill cable in her family's Phoenix home.

Exodus Tyson's 7-year-old brother found her on a treadmill with her neck on a cable attached to the exercise machine, police Sgt. Andy Hill said.

"Somehow she was playing on this treadmill, and there's a cord that hangs under the console - it's kind of a loop," Hill said of the accident. "Either she slipped or put her head in the loop, but it acted like a noose, and she was obviously unable to get herself off of it."

5/27/09 UPDATE: Exodus Tyson was pronounced dead just before noon, police Sgt. Andy Hill said. She had been on life support and police have said their investigation showed her injury on Monday was a "tragic accident.''
"There are no words to describe the tragic loss of our beloved Exodus,'' the family said in a statement. "We ask you now to please respect our need at this very difficult time for privacy to grieve and try to help each other heal.''

Is Gisele Bundchen Pregnant?

Several gossip sites are claiming that supermodel Gisele Bundchen is pregnant! Say goodbye to the body we see here - actually, no, scratch that. We bet Gisele would snap right back into shape the second that baby pops out!

Gisele and pro-football player Tom Brady, who have been dating since 2006, got engaged in December 2008 and were married in April.

This will be the first child for Bundchen but Brady already has a son, John Edward Thomas Moynahan, with ex-girlfirend Bridget Moynahan.

We do know one thing, that baby is going to rival the looks of Brad and Angelina's kids. It's going to be one great looking kid!

Karnik's episodical film on Preity's IPL team!

The last time that actress Preity Zinta and director Samir Karnik came together was for HEROES, where Preity essayed the role of a brave young Punjabi army widow. What followed was an all round critical acclaim, as well as an average box-office success. And it seems that the young director has found appreciation for his work as Preity has once again hired his services (no, do not jump the gun, she is not venturing into film production!), to bring out a 24-episodic film on her team, Kings XI Punjab.

The one of a kind series will track the players through four cameras in their dressing room and suites. Naturally, being the owner, Preity Zinta will be the star attraction of the series, and already a surprise revelation was made by Samir, and it was that Preity goes to the temple everyday and distributes 'prasad' to all the players. So, a lot of interesting behind the scenes inside stories will be packed into the 24 episodes.

Sean Penn Withdraws Motion for Divorce

Sean Penn has withdrawn his motion for divorce from wife Robin Wright Penn. Wasn't he hooking up with a younger starlet just last week? Wasn't that affair during separation the 'final straw' according to many Hollywood insiders?

True of false, what does that say for Robin Wright Penn if she takes Sean back? Just saying.

What is Sean's explanation for it all? In a quote to the Daily News he says, "It was an arrogant mistake." Now if anyone knows Sean, he is arrogant. So he could have just said it was a mistake, or "I was just being me."

So the game begins. Now Robin Wright Penn has 30 days to stick it to Sean or eat crow herself. Stay tuned, this is about to get good. The reality is Robin can walk with a lot of cash in spousal support. I wonder what the new Vegas odds (prop bet) are now?

Robert Pattinson kiss for sale

A kiss from Robert Pattinson was auctioned off at the Cannes film festival last night to raise money for amfAR's annual Cinema Against AIDS. Feeling extra generous Pattinson decided to auction off kisses to two different people. How much does a kiss from Robert Pattinson cost? Just a wopping $20,000.

Other items auctioned off at Cannes included former president Clinton's Alpine Alto saxophon, a 1995 Bruce Weber picture of Sean Penn, and a private screening of the Brad Pitt-Quentin Tarantino movie Inglourious Bastards. Josh Hartnett offered to strip to raise money for the charity, but sadly the bids never got high enough.

A total of more than $1 million was raised at the charity auction. "This is an amazing turnout this year, and we've doing this for 15 years. I think, considering the economy, we did a great job here tonight," amfAR chairman Harvey Weinstein said.

Mallika Sherawat’s making everyone cringe!

Blood, gore, awesome sound effects form the crux of Hisss. Sherawat plays a woman who becomes a snake and then goes on a killing spree. The gruesome killing scenes definitely make you cringe and so does the getup of Mallika clad in a snake costume. It is not at all like what we’ve seen in our Sridevi popularised Nagin films before. It is the Anaconda-esque version of Nagin. The only problem is the film is directed by Jennifer Lynch of Boxing Helena (1993) fame. Her film had won her a Raspberry award for the worst director in 1994. After disappointing her fans in a blink and miss role in The Myth, we’ve heard Mallika apparently has no dialogues in Hisss too! Ahem... we hope the film is as good as its promo though.

Aishwarya takes a day off before shooting for Action Replay to meet parents

The Padma Shri pair Akshay Kumar and Aishwarya Rai Bachchan rushed back from different parts of the world to resume shooting for Vipul Shah’s Action Replay in Karjat on the outskirts of Mumbai at Nitin Desai’s studio. But while Akshay proceeded straight from the airport on landing from Singapore, Aishwarya on landing from Cannes took a day off on Monday to spend with her parents before leaving for Karjat. "It was a long spell. Shooting in Karjat for prolonged periods is not new to Aishwarya. For Jodhaa Akbar she was stationed in Karjat for so long that it became her second home. But now circumstances have changed. After her father’s illness, Aishwarya doesn’t like to be away from Mumbai for prolonged periods.

Even when she was shooting in the jungles of Kerala for Mani Ratnam’s film, Aishwarya made sure she visited Mumbai to be with her father. Though she never lets it show in her work, being away from home is very difficult for her now and she would like to shoot as much as possible in Mumbai. Ironically, almost all her films are being shot outside the city. " Her father’s health scare has bonded Aishwarya with others who are similarly traumatized by terminal illness in the industry. Says a source, "Aishwarya kept track of Feroz Khan’s health through Fardeen and when he passed away she was deeply affected. At the prayer meeting Fardeen and Aishwarya exchanged notes like two wounded war veterans." Father’s health is now Aishwarya’s primary concern. On landing from Cannes on Monday, Ash decided to break her journey to spend a day with her parents. "It was something I had to do. I did it more for myself than for them," she said before taking off to Karjat.

To ignore these problems, in our opinion, is letting down the brave men and women who risk everything. Preity Zinta very much single now

The word is finally out from Preity Zinta’s mouth, she is no longer dating Ness Wadia and is very much single now.

Preity says, “I’m not dating anyone right now. If I did, I wouldn’t hide it. But whatever the status of my heart, I’m certainly not the kind of person who would send out emails to people about my love life.”

She refers to story about her sending mails to her team that she is no longer dating the teams co-owner Ness Wadia.

She adds, “Why would I do something so stupid.Do I owe my team members an explanation on my love life? I don’t even know their email addresses. For me, the line between my personal life and my work place is very sharply divided.”

However ask her if she is dating her team member Brett Lee, she says,”I will never date a married man or an actor.That rule for my heart is still applicable.To that I’ve added one more group of people who are taboo territory to my heart. Cricketers. Going by my mantra of never mixing my personal life with my professional interests, I’ll never date a cricketer either. One doesn’t go out with people whom one works with, it’s as simple as that.”

Kris Allen is your new American Idol

In what may go down as being one of the most surprising upsets in American Idol history, 23-yr old Kris Allen has been crowned this year's American Idol over favored finalist Adam Lambert. Kris has been referred to as a "dark horse" though out much of this season, and it seems that he was able to creep up and win over voters just in time. This was an especially tough year, as both finalists are truly amazing vocalists and performers. In my opinion both are winners and musically will go on to do great things!

Finale highlights included performances with KISS, Cyndi Lauper, Keith Urban, and The Black Eyed Peas.

TNT Teams with Grammy-nominated Buckcherry To Create Musical Anthem for the Network's NASCAR Summer Series!

Turner Network Television (TNT) announced that it has joined forces with Grammy-nominated rockers Buckcherry to feature the band’s version of Deep Purple’s hit single “Highway Star” as the network’s theme song for its 2009 NASCAR Sprint Cup Series coverage. The song will serve as the primary musical bed for all six of TNT’s races, as well as for the network’s multiplatform marketing campaign surrounding its exclusive race coverage.

The network is producing a full-length music video of “Highway Star” performed by Buckcherry that will debut exclusively on the Turner-operated Web site NASCAR.COM at 11 am ET on Wednesday, May 20. The video will make its television debut the same day during TNT’s exclusive coverage of Game #1 of the Eastern Conference Finals on the Emmy-award winning Inside the NBA post-game show. Additionally, the track will be available for purchase as part of Buckcherry’s Black Butterfly on iTunes beginning on June 16th. As part of the initiative, Buckcherry will perform live at Daytona International Speedway, appearing on TNT’s prerace coverage of the Coke Zero 400 on Saturday, July 4.

Zac Efron is out and Chace Crawford is in for Footlose remake

Chace Crawford has been cast to play the lead role in the upcoming remake of the 1984 film Footloose. The film will be directed by High School Musical's Kenny Ortega and was originally going to star Zac Efron. But he decided not to take the role because he is looking to expand the types of movie roles he takes on. "I want to grow a bit with the types of movies I want to make," Efron said. "It was more along the lines that I was looking for a new challenge, and this was another musical."

Chace accepted the role after scheduling conflicts with Gossip Girl were ironed out. He will step in to fill the shoes of Kevin Bacon in the remake that is set to start shooting in March 2010.

Who will play Chace's leading lady in the movie? There has been no definite decision yet, but Hayden Panettiere, Amanda Bynes and even Miley Cyrus are some of the names that have been floating around.

Tanushree Dutta – Hair We go…

The actress, who’s turned into something of a style chameleon this year, was spotted showing off her new ‘do - turning heads of passers-by, and the assembled paparazzi. Tanu who has been known to change her fashion sense now and again is back but this time in a different way as she is ready to spark a bob revolution by cutting her hair in a short bob. She recently got a new hairdo from hairstylist Guy Kremer in Calcutta and the reason behind this is to beat the scorching heat in her own way. “I like experimenting with my hair and after getting this hair cut I m getting lots of compliments from near and dear one. hope my fan like it as well.” says, Tanu.

Is Mallika Sherawat nude in Hissss?

 

Has Mallika Sherawat given a nude scene in her upcoming Hollywood film, Hissss is the first question that comes to mind after watching its trailer. Just recently, the first promo of the much in news anticipated Mallika Sherawat starrer Hissss is out and we must admit it does make for an interesting watch.

The promo gives the impression that it is a no nonsense thriller that is certainly not meant for the faint hearted as it has plenty of blood and gore. A surefire Adults Only certificate cannot be ruled out from Indian Censor Board.

The trailer shows Mallika Sherawat slithering in mud and becoming a deadly snake. She is shown covered in a body suit that fits her like second skin and during many times while watching the trailer it gives the impression that Mallika hasn’t worn anything. There are sequences shown with many murders happening. In one scene Mallika is shown slithering up a tree and baring her fangs and shocks your wits. Then in another scene she is shown transformed into a helpless woman. Also seen in the trailer are the film’s other Indian stars, Irrfan Khan and Divya Dutta.

The plot of Hissss revolves around a snake woman played by Mallika Sherawat looking for revenge. Irrfan and Divya Dutta play a couple and reportedly there is a very passionately shot love making scene between the two. The film appears high on special effects.

Abhishek, Ash surprise grandma in Bhopal

It’s a busy time for Abhishek Bachchan and wife Aishwarya Rai; still, the two decided to pay a surprise visit to Jaya Bachchan’s mother in Bhopal, just before they flew to France to attend the 62nd Cannes Film Festival. "It was a flash visit last week. Abhishek had never visited his naani (grandmother) with Aishwarya. They wanted to surprise her. They had a day off. So they just took off for the day. There was no direct flight. So they had to take a hopping flight. But it was finally worth it because the visit made their grandmother in Bhopal so happy," said a source close to the couple. After the Bhopal visit, the two took off for Cannes to attend the festival that opened on Wednesday.

"They’ve both gone on a personal and very special invitation from the Cannes Festival organisers. Aishwarya attends the festival opening or closing every year depending on the availability of time. Abhishek just decided to accompany his wife on the special invitation from the festival organisers," said the source. They return immediately so that Aishwarya can resume shooting with Akshay Kumar for Vipul Shah’s Instant Replay, while Abhishek will join his father, Amitabh Bachchan, for another schedule of R Balakrishnan’s Paa.

'Hats off to Katrina Kaif,' says Akshay

Katrina Kaif recently shot for a water skiing stunt with such confidence that her co-star Akshay Kumar was left utterly impressed by the Bollywood beauty’s bravado. Akshay himself struggled at the stunt. The Khiladi who loves to flirt with danger finally found a stunt at which he fumbled time and again. It happened during the shooting of Priyadarshan’s movie De Dana Dan in Singapore. “I have never fallen on my ass so many times in one day I swear...You know at the back of my mind I’ve always wondered what is going to be ‘that’ thing in life I’m gonna find unbelievably difficult??... Ha Ha, I’ve found it...Ladies and Gentlemen it was Water Skiing,” Akshay writes in his latest blog post. Recalling the way he struggled at learning water skiing, Akshay wrote that director Priyadarshan only gave him half an hour thinking it won’t be difficult for Akki to master water skiing.

“Well surprise surprise, water skiing ain’t that easy, it looks so graceful and easy and killer cool to do, you know, anyone could do it. Well I’m sorry, I was so so wrong, it’s ridiculously harder than it looks and so much funnier,” Akshay wrote. The Singh Is Kinng star wrote that it took him a few hours to learn the skill, but once he had got the hang of it, he could even carry Katrina Kaif on his back while water skiing. “…needless to say it took a few more times than first expected to nail this thing, but by lunch not only had I cracked it, I was carrying the incredibly beautiful and brave Katrina Kaif on my back whilst whizzing round on this thing like it was second nature,” the actor wrote. And what impressed Akshay was the way Kat pulled off the stunt with confidence and fearlessness. “So I must say hats off to Katrina, she did extremely well, not many heroines I know would have tried and succeeded as much as Kat did, well done girl...” the actor gushed.

When Celina caught her boyfriend with another man!

Actress Celina Jaitley has known gays all through her life. Her first boyfriend, for instance, was a gay. There’s a reason why Celina is taking up the gay cause so fervently, despite all the hate mails she’s getting from people. Many of her close friends have been gays. Her first brush with a homosexual was at the tender age of 16. Baring her heart out to a news network, Celina revealed that she first fell in love with a handsome man when she was just 16. He was many years elder to her, but he confessed his love for her. But as the relationship progressed Celina noted something strange about him. He would always meet her publicly and would be furious if Celina met him when he was with his male friends.

Celina confesses that gradually her relationship with him began to sour. He began to physically abuse her. She even suspected that he was seeing another woman. Then, one day, Celina decided to check up on him. She made an unannounced visit to his house and ‘caught him’ with his male friend. The truth was revealed. The man was gay. But leaving him was still very difficult for Celina. She struggled with her feelings, and was at the receiving end of another phase of physical abuse before she decided to end the relationship. Years later, the two got in touch again and became very good friends. Unfortunately the man died soon. After that, Celina says, she has befriended many gays and she has come to “believe that the kind of person you are has nothing to do with your sexuality.” She says she would continue to fight for gay rights, irrespective of the hate mails she gets from people.

We kissed like real-life couples - Says Hrithik

Hrithik Roshan’s much awaited ‘Kites’ was unveiled at Cannes 2009. The film has Barbara Mori and Kangana Ranaut as his co-stars. The film has a much talked about lip lock between Hrithik and Barabara. Hrithik says that he was comfortable doing the scene and they did kiss each other in the scene like real lovers. Hrithik says, “Why are we even talking about kissing? Is that such a big deal? Hasn’t our cinema grown up? Yes, there’re kissing scenes in the film, but nothing to make me squirm. In fact, I’d be more than happy and completely comfortable watching those kissing scenes with my wife, son and parents when the film is released.” ” ‘Kites’ is a love story. It’s about people in love.

And what do people in love do to express their mutual feelings? In fact, it was Barbara Mori who made me realise how silly we look on screen while shying away from expressing love naturally.” “We were both supposed to jump off from a rooftop at an impossible height. Before we did so our director Anurag Basu suggested I kiss Barbara since we were doing something death-defying and dangerous and potentially lethal. Mani Ratnam’s cameraman quits Ravan

Manikandan, who had been signed up to handle the camera in Mani Ratnam’s project Ravan, has moved out of it. According to the latest reports, Manikandan was signed up by Shah Rukh Khan’s production house Red Chillies Entertainment for two of his ventures. With one of the two films expected to go on floors in June, the cameraman decided to move on. We hear from our sources that as per the contract Manikandan was required to work till March for Ravan.

However, due to some unforeseen circumstances, the project was delayed and the cameraman opted out of it. Manikandan said that he still maintains a good rapport with the director of Ravan. With 50 per cent of the film shot already, Santhosh Sivan has been roped in to complete the rest of the film. Ravan stars Aishwarya Rai Bachchan and Vikram in the lead.

Drew Barrymore: Actress Turned Director?

We all know and love Drew Barrymore as a the talented actress starring in films such as Ever After, Never Been Kissed, and Charlies Angels, but what is she up to now?

I'm sure you've all heard of the new hit movie "Twilight" which comes from a novel series written by Stephanie Meyer. Well rumors say Drew Barrymore is going to be the director for the third installment called "Eclipse". They've already started casting for roles in the new movie, yet it still has not been publicly official if she is going to be the director or not.

It may not be widely known but this would certainly not be her first time directing a movie. Drew has just finished directing a new movie called "Whip It!" starring Ellen Page. We've seen what Ms. Barrymore can do on-screen, hopefully she'll be just as good, if not better, off-screen!

The Prodigy

Bruce Springsteen has dubbed Jay Weinberg, son of long time E Street Band drummer Max Weinberg, "The Prodigy". At 18 years of age, Jay has been given the opportunity of a lifetime.

As many know, Max Weinberg not only plays drums for the E Street Band, but he is also head of the Max Weinberg 7; the house band for Conan O'Brien's talk show. With the premiere of The Tonight Show with Conan O'Brien coinciding with Bruce Springsteen's current world tour, scheduling conflicts were sure to become an issue.

The fix? Replace Max with his son Jay. Great drumming is sure to be in the genes, right? Well...it must be considering Jay had never wrapped his hands around a set of drumsticks until he was 14 years old. And just four short years later, Jay is rocking out with the "heart-stopping, earth-quaking, booty-shaking, legendary" E Street Band.

Seeing Jay perform live, Bruce is right on! "The Prodigy" Jay is. What a joy to see this young man put his heart and soul into playing songs that, in some cases, are twice as old as he is. Rock on Jay!

Kris or Adam? Who Is America's Favorite?

It all comes down to tonight's performances. Kris or Adam. Who will be the next American Idol?

America get your texting thumbs ready because tonight will be a close one. After tonight's anticipated peformances from predicted winner Adam Lambert to the dark horse, Kris Allen, it will be a real nail-biting results show tomorrow night. Adam who has been consistantly good throughout the season has had the judges votes to win the whole contest from the beginning but with Kris Allen sneaking up the past few weeks as one of America's fan favorites, don't mark Adam as a sure bet winner just yet.

Mariah Carey shows her not so glamorous side

Mariah Carey is known for glamor and beauty, but she leaves her beauty behind in her new film, Precious. In the movie Carey plays a plain-Jane social worker. Precious is based on the book Push which tells the story of a young girl who is abused while growing up in Harlem. The film director, Lee Daniels, felt that choosing Carey for this part would be a very bold thing to do. "If she could dye her hair, put on a wig, take off the makeup, darken under the eyes, I believed she would begin to give me her soul. And she did," Daniels said.



Carey was not concerned about the look of her character in the movie and she said her friends and family loved her performance despite the way her character looks. "No one has said, 'Girl I can't believe you are there with those dark circles under your eyes and wearing a wig and looking nasty.' No one went that far," Carey said.

Double Standards Just as Strong in Hypocritical Hollywood

The permanently pubescent stricken Jonas Brothers were flashed by adoring female fans this week. If you are not up on the Jonas Brothers, they have sworn off sex until marriage. So what is the worst thing anyone could do to these poor boys?

Yes, the answer is the temptation of female anatomy. In this case young girls held up a sign TAKE US WE'RE YOURS and dutifully lifted their shirts exposing their breasts. God... how can these girls take it so far! It's just not fair to these young boys. Fortunately the boys had the wisdom to cover their eyes.

Here is where societies hypocrisy comes into play. Were the girls arrested? Nope. Security just ordered them to lower their shirts and asked to leave. If a man did this, security would have beat them senseless out the door and police would have been called with charges made. Thank you Hollywood for this one time where you were no different than the rest of the country. Women really do get away with much more than men.

Survivor winner Ethan Zohn has cancer

Survivor Africa winner Ethan Zohn has been diagnosed with cancer. Last month he was found to have a rare form of cancer called CD20-positive Hodgkin's Lymphoma. He began suffering from night sweats, itching and a swollen lymph node and was then tested and diagnosed. Zohn began chemotherapy last week and will soon lose his famous curly hair. "My hair is my identity," he said, but he plans to shave it off in the next few days.

Zohn lost a parent to cancer and he wants to battle the disease as an inspiration to others. As a Survivor winner, Zohn has shown that he is not one to give up easily and he calls his new fight with cancer "the ultimate game of Survivor."

Marvel Casts Thor!

The looming question of which actor could seal the deal is done. The Nordic (Asgardian) God will be portrayed by Australian Chris Hemsworth. Hemsworth is a relative unknown in the states except for his recent portrayal of the short lived character George Kirk in the rebooted Star Trek. PMC recently reported that HBO's Alexandar Skarsgard met with director Kenneth Branagh.

Thor is a necessary character in the Marvel Universe if they are to create the superhero team up of The Avengers which includes Iron Man, Thor, Hulk and Captain America. Later incarnations of the Avengers include Spider-Man. Captain America's release date has been moved back from July 16, 2010 to May 20, 2011. Thor begins filming of January 2010 for the following year's June 2011 release. The Avengers film is set for the following summer release of 2012. For what it's worth, Spider-Man will be released in advance of them all in it's usual May slot of 2011.

Hollywood Daily reports that a host of actors have either turned down the role or failed readings for the part of Thor. In the case of Daniel Craig, he turned it down; while Chris Hemsworth was turned down without even had read for the part. Then Marvel's representative on the project Kevin Feige reconsidered Chris Hemsworths Manager's request to have Chris read. "You've got to reconsider Chris, he's your guy".

Marvel's reaction? "Oh my God". Chris has the physical attributes for the task too standing at at a towering six foot three inches.

Jay Leno's Reign on the Tonight Show Comes At an End

After 17 years of working on the Tonight Show Jay Leno will take his bow on June 1, 2009 with his last show. Although he is leaving the Tonight Show we will still be seeing him on television in 10:00pm slot with another comedy on NBC. He feels like it'll be good for television and audiences to have something comical on television so it can contrast with all the serious things on at that time. Jay Leno will soon join the memories of the other hosts of the the Tonight Show.

Steve Allen was the original host of the TV show when it started in 1954. Following him was Jack Paar who was known for his fun and jokes but his emotional outbursts as well. It was because of him that the Tonight switced to being taped live to pre-recorded the evening of the show so they would have time to edit time when he became overtly emotional. But it was thanks to Jack that the Tonight Show started having guests on the show. Johnny Carson replaced Jack. He stayed with the show for about 30 years! Jay Leno became the host of the show with Johnny's blessing. Johnny Carson started to let people guest host on Monday and Jay Leno was frequently a guest. After Johnny Carson left Jay became the host for the Tonight Show which we all know today.

Jay Leno has promised "something out of the left field" for his last show. His final show will include superstars like Mel Gibson, Billy Crystal, and Arnold Schwarzenegger. Look forward to some great shows coming your way.

It is now Conan O' Brian's turn to step up to the plate and begin hosting the Tonight Show. We'll soon get to see if he's up for the challenge of carrying the Tonight Show for many more years to come just as the hosts before him have.
