Creative Differences lead to production delay on Lovely Bones
Production on the best-selling book adaptation of The Lovely Bones is rumored to be temporarily shut down. This is the second production-halting incident that was caused by “creative differences.”
Earlier this year, best actor nominee Ryan Gosling dropped out of the Peter Jackson-directed flick because of “creative differences.” However, Gosling was then replaced with Mark Wahlberg shortly before production was to begin.
According to a New Zealand movie website, Flicks.co.nz, there is a temporary shutdown of the film because of the differing views that Jackson and his art director had. According to the website, there were disagreements about what the set for Heaven, a key location in the story, should look like.
As a result, moviemaking has come to a halt while it's sorted out.
The adaptation of author Alice Sebold's novel revolves around a young girl named Susie who, from heaven, watches her family deal with the grief and anger of her death after she was murdered by a neighbor. Wahlberg plays Susie's dad, who becomes obsessed with vengeance, while Rachel Weisz plays her mom. There is no word yet on if production has resumed on the family drama set for a March 2009 release
