Revlon ColorBurst Lipstick Review

Happy Saturday! :D

I hope everyone is having a lovely weekend!

Have you all recovered from the excitement of Royal Wedding Friday?

But, of course, there are other things going on in the world besides that... I also want to send my thoughts and prayers to all those affected by the devastating tornado in Alabama. I know there are many things we can all do to help the victims recover from their loss.

--------------------------------------------------------------

For today, I want to share with you guys my new favorite red lipstick.

Revlon ColorBurst Lipstick in True Red

- Instant burst of rich, true color with a featherlight feel

- Elasticolor technology provides immediate color release and hugs lips with a burst of weightless color that feels like a second skin

- Available in 20 gorgeous shades, with 5 new shades!

Expert tips: Apply directly to lips for beautiful, high impact color. Can be worn with or without lipliner.

***from www.revlon.com***

This is my new favorite red lipstick because the color is absolutely beautiful! And it's long lasting - when I wore it, I ate lunch and I drank soda, and the color was still there - I just had to retouch, of course. You can use a lipliner if you want, but if you don't have one, it's okay.

I also love the look of the lipstick itself - it's very sleek. I love the "quilted" look, and it's really helpful that you can see which color it is from the cap - no need to turn it over to read which one it is, no need to open each lipstick. :)

You can wear lip gloss in a similar shade with it if you want, but if not, it's also okay because it already has quite a glossy finish.

Another good thing about this is it's very affordable. At Ulta, they are sold for $8.99. They are probably even cheaper if you buy them at your favorite drugstore, like CVS, Walgreens, or Rite Aid.

I really have nothing negative to say about this because you get a high quality lipstick for a low price, and I think that's amazing!

True Red

The description from their website says there are 20 colors, but there's really 21:

icy nude, petal, pink sugar, candy pink, cherry ice, lilac, mauve, plum, baby pink, carnation, fucshia, soft rose, raspberry, hazelnut, chocolate, rosy nude, soft nude, peach, coral, true red, and crimson

So many beautiful colors to choose from! I definitely want to get other shades! :D

Have you tried Revlon ColorBurst? Which shade did you get, and what do you think of it?

Is it something you might want to try?

Say It with Flowers: Mother's Day Gift Idea (and some Royal Wedding too!)

Happy Friday, everyone!

It's the last Friday of April, and I think the world started it with a bang. :)

Now that May is coming, it's time to think about what to give our Moms for Mother's Day. :D

A Mother's Day gift idea? Perfume.

Photobucket

1. Banana Republic Wildbloom - camellia and hydrangea, light and neutral = perfect for summer ($48, Banana Republic)

2. Emilio Pucci Vivara Variazioni Verde 072 - neroli and rose blend = for your adventurous side ($59, Sephora)

3. Oscar de la Renta Esprit d'Oscar - jasmine and tuberose with citrus and tonka bean ($98, Nordstrom)

4. Flora by Gucci Eau Fraiche - kumquat, rose, and osmanthus = romantic ($65, Macy's)

5. Christian Dior Milly-la-Foret - mandarin, bergamot, and neroli ($225, www.dior.com)

6. Hermes Iris Ukiyoe - airy floral scent = classic and cool ($235, Hermes)

Okay, I am kinda liking some of these... maybe, if you have some extra money to spend, you can buy a perfume for yourself too! ;)

More floral perfume information from www.sephora.com:

The most popular fragrance family, Floral is a blend of mixed bouquets of jasmine, rose, white peony, gardenia, and tuberose. These fragrances are either pure and flowery, or subtly warmed with a touch of spice or fruit for a soft, powdery finish.

Women who favor floral fragrances are elegant, feminine, and passionate romantics.

Here are three different types of florals, and some perfumes I like :) ---

Floral: Florals blend of one or more of rose, peony, tuberose, jasmine, orchid, lily of the valley - inherently feminine and fabulously flowery.

Ralph Lauren Romance ($45-$78)

Juicy Couture Juicy Couture ($18-$87)

Daisy by Marc Jacobs ($20-$75)

White floral: Pure white blossoms like jasmine, gardenia, and freesia mingle to create opulent essences, often the fragrances of choice for brides-to-be.

Vera Wang Sheer Veil ($92)

Soft Floral: Classic floral notes, such as white flowers and rose, are mixed with powdery notes of iris, vanilla, or a touch of citrus to create a soft and clean scent.

Clinique Happy In Bloom, Limited Edition ($32)

Which of these perfumes sound (and look) good to you? Do you use any of these?

What's your signature perfume?

I know a lot of people here in Los Angeles stayed up all night to watch the live coverage of the Royal Wedding - some had parties, others went to bars in their PJs and tiaras! :)

As for me, well, I fell asleep, haha! ;)

I randomly woke up at 4am (I am the kind of person who sleeps through the night), then I saw the time and decided I should turn on the TV and watch the Royal Wedding like I planned. I saw them singing "God Save the Queen", then I watched it through to their two balcony kisses. Then I went back to sleep. :) I think they'll have a re-run of the entire program later tonight, or otherwise there's always the internet. ;)

But, on to the dress -- I think it is absolutely beautiful! She's beautiful! And her sister looked gorgeous in her white maid-of-honor dress too. :)

Here is a picture of Kate... oh whoops, I mean Her Royal Highness, the Duchess of Cambridge... wearing a second Sarah Burton for Alexander McQueen dress for their evening reception.

What did you think of the Royal Wedding?

Have a fantastic weekend! :D

Kate's Second McQueen: The Duchess of Cambridge's Wedding Night Party Dress

Kate Middleton--I guess now Catherine, Duchess of Cambridge--was snapped leaving Clarence House on the way to Buckingham Palace for wedding night festivities. Kate had changed out of her lace gown and, literally, let her hair down. Kate was seen wearing a second Alexander McQueen design, a strapless floor-length satin gazar gown with a jewelled waist and which she accessorized with a chic, cropped anogra sweater. Camilla, also seen here, switched out her Anna Valentine day suit for a blue, high-necked dress from the same designer. [via]

All About The Royal Wedding

After months of speculation, and some overnight frenzy after a hooded figure identified as Sarah Burton by her belt and ballet flats was seen entering The Gorin Hotel, we got confirmation as to the designer of Kate Middleton's wedding gown. And more importantly what the gown itself looked like.

The gown is indeed an Alexander McQueen, designed by the house's creative director Sarah Burton. I'm sure in the days and  weeks to come many will applaud Kate for her fashion forward choice of designer. Not that her dress was trendy. I'd expected long sleeves, or at the very least covered shoulders, as that seems to be de rigueur in royal circles.

Not surprisingly Kate Middleton's wedding dress was classic and elegant. My first thought was that it was quite an homage to that other legendary commoner bride, Grace Kelly.

Before I say anything else I want to make it clear that I think Kate Middleton, the new Duchess of Cambridge, looked beautiful. I think the lace was classic and I loved the corset bodice (how
tiny did her waist look?!) and that gorgeous flowing skirt. Glamorous and regal without being too OTT.

I also loved Kate's choice for veil and tiara.

Still, it would have been nice if the top of Kate's dress didn't so closely resemble Princess Grace's. I know there are differences--Grace's was higher, more covered with those tiny little buttons--and I also know how hard to make a truly unique wedding dress, but I would have thought they would have stayed away from similarities with a wedding dress that famous. I also found it to have some similarities to Princess Margaret's wedding dress.

Peter Phillips' Wife Autumn Kelly: Another Royal Bride Who Chose Lace

Regardless Prince William's bride looked beautiful, composed and best of all happy. And, really, there isn't anything better to wear on your wedding day than a smile--and maybe a diamond tiara donated to the cause by the Queen.

According to Clarence House the dress featured English Cluny and French Chantilly lace "hand-worked in the Irish Carrickmacross needlework tradition." As for the design "individual flowers have been hand-cut from lace and hand-engineered onto ivory silk tulle to create a unique and organic design, which incorporates the rose, thistle, daffodil and shamrock."

Kate's tiara is the "halo" Cartier tiara (I've also heard it referred to as the Scroll) that originally belonged to the Queen Mother and was given to Queen Elizabeth on her 18th birthday.

Anne, and now Catherine, the Duchess of Cambridge via theroyalforums.com

I think it was a perfect choice for Kate. As for those diamond earrings? They were inspired by the acorn featured on the new Middleton family coat of arms.

Kate's shoes were also McQueen--as was sister Pippa's
dress--and were made of "ivory duchesse satin with lace hand-
embroidered by the Royal School of Needlework."

The bouquet, meanwhile was described as "a shield-shaped wired bouquet of myrtle, lily-of-the-valley, sweet William and hyacinth. The bouquet was designed by Shane Connolly and draws on the traditions of flowers of significance for the Royal Family, the Middleton family and on the Language of Flowers."

I love lily of the valley for a bridal bouquet.

What did you think of Kate's wedding look?
And I wonder if she's got more dresses in
store for the other parties...

I think the best part of the day was seeing how genuine Kate and William seem with one another. One of my favourite moments was when Kate was walking towards the altar and William had his back turned. Prince Harry stole a look and reportedly told his brother with a grin, "Wait 'til you see her." Instamelt. For more lip reading check out this article.

Then when William did see Kate he couldn't help leaning over and telling her how beautiful she looked. Repeatedly. Even during the ceremony there were knowing glances and sly smiles.

You can tell that these two were friends first and it seems
like a true love match. I just really hope they can go the distance.

As for that much awaited balcony kiss? The adoring crowds were treated to not one but two smooches. And I was really surprised not so much with the size of the crowds but their enthusiasm. Seriously, the way they were screaming when Wills and Harry were on their way to the Abbey you'd think the princes were rock stars. I doubt the British monarchy has seen this much good will in ages. I just hope the popularity of William and Kate doesn't impede them starting a normal, stable life together.

Once I get a chance I'd like to do a post on some of the wedding fashion like Victoria Beckham in...Victoria Beckham, custom Louboutins and a stewardess-inspired Philip Treacy fascinator that appeared to be adorned with a corkscrew. Or Chelsy Davy in Alberta Ferretti (a bit of a hot mess), the Princess Beatrice and Eugenie (how unfortunate is that blue getup?), Princess Laetitia of Spain, Sam Cameron in a bejewelled Erdem headband worthy of Blair Waldorf and more...Until then, enjoy some royal wedding cake!

I'd love to hear your thoughts on the royal wedding...did you watch?

Will you be watching the Royal Wedding?

Happy Thursday! :D

The web is all abuzz with Royal Wedding news as April 29th is only a few hours away! I don't know why I'm excited - I don't know them, and I'm not British - but, I guess it's because I just love weddings in general, and this is gonna be a big one, you know, it being a part of history and all (and not to mention the approximately $68 million budget!!! --- which is just crazy, if you ask me).

So anyways, I know some of my beloved readers are not all that happy about the Royal Wedding, but I have some scans to share... so, for you guys who are sick of seeing Prince William and Kate Middleton, sorry! I promise this will be the last Royal Wedding post... well, until, the actual wedding photos come out. But yeah, I'll have other posts soon, I just don't want these scans to go to waste. ;)

I'll probably stay up until Kate Middleton walks down the aisle (to see her wedding dress), and maybe I'll wait for the vows too...

Are you gonna stay up late (or get up early) to watch the Royal Wedding? Or are you just gonna TiVo? :)

LeAnn Rimes Wedding, Celebrity Engagement Rings & More

I figured a post about weddings and engagements was appropriate for this week when the biggest nuptials of them all are taking place. And while it may seem like William and Kate are the first people on Earth to get married, others are doing it too, like LeAnn Rimes and Eddie Cibrian, for instance, who married in California on Friday according to People. I'm no LeAnn fan but I do think LeAnn's sparkly Reem Acra wedding dress is very pretty and flattering. And you can't go wrong with a fistful of peonies.

Another Kate (not just Middleton and Moss) is also headed to the altar.
Speaking of weddings several stars have also gotten engaged recently.
Kate Hudson, for once, who was gifted an emerald-cut engagement
ring from boyfriend Matt Bellamy (apparently its 9 karats). Just saw the
commercial for Kate's new movie, Something Borrowed. Can't wait!

Speaking of that other Kate, she was at Clarence House
yesterday for some pre-wedding prep. [via]

Amy Smart recently confirmed with US that she's also
engaged to boyfriend and cutie carpenter Carter Oosterhouse.

Kristin Cavallari has also recently announced her engagement--
sadly, for Laguna/Hills fans its not to Stephen, Brody...or Justin Bobby.
I haven't seen pics of the Kristin Cavallari engagement ring (Kristin
was ringless when shopping in L.A. on the 26th) but reports
say her boyfriend Jay Cutler presented her with a 5.2-karat rock. [via]

Have you seen Blake Lively's new red locks?
I'm not really a fan, what do you think?
