I love the eclectic vibe of these rugs from Vanderhurd. The dhurries are made in India and can be ordered to suit your specific needs with a long list of possible colour combinations and different materials to choose from (wool, cotton, silk).
“I love to imagine the Moorish kings of the Alhambra palace languishing with the exotic beauties of their harem on piles of our dhurries—like that famous picture of Yves Saint Laurent in his djellaba in Marrakesh,” designer Christine Van Der Hurd tells Vogue.
The project is also poignant, as it has been moved forward after the sudden and tragic death of Van Der Hurd’s designer son Jasper, by three of the women closest to him—his girlfriend, Canadian model Andi Muise, and friends Emilie Jean and actress Tarajia Morrell.
