It's a baby boy for Karisma Kapoor

Kareena’s elder sister and actress Karisma Kapoor gave birth to a boy on Friday morning at Mumbai’s Breach Candy Hospital.

According to hospital sources, the mother and the newborn are doing fine.

This is Karisma’s second child with hubby Sanjay Kapur, a Delhi-based businessman. They already have a six-year-old daughter named Samaira.

 

The Kapoors were with Karisma at the time of the baby’s delivery today morning. Meanwhile, Karisma’s friends have already begun congratulating her.

 

Her good friend, jewellery designer Farah Khan Ali, posted on her Twitter page: “Karisma Kapoor just gave birth to a beautiful baby boy. Many congratulations to her and her family.”

Cash, valuables stolen from Hema Malini's home

Bollywood actor Hema Malini's house was broken open in suburban Goregaon and cash and gold ornaments collectively valued at Rs 80 lakh were stolen, police said today.

The 61-year-old actor had gone to Nagpur yesterday morning.

When Hema Malini returned home this morning, she found the cash and valuables stolen from her cupboard at her bungalow 'Gokuldham' in suburban Goregaon, Additional Police Commissioner, Ramrao Pawar told PTI.

According to police, the robbers entered the house by breaking the window and decamped with Rs 75 lakh cash and gold ornaments worth Rs 5 lakh, he added.

The awaited releases in 2010

2009, the year of recession has faded marking the arrival of 2010, the year which brings hopes and awaits the release of many big budgeted and mega releases. Let us take a look at the releases which await the forthcoming year:

Kites: Made under the direction of Anurag Basu, this film has been produced by Rakesh Roshan and has created a lot of buzz due to the alleged link up between the leading stars of the film, Hrithik Roshan and Barbara Mori from Hollywood. The film also has Kangana Ranaut in an important role.

Veer: After ‘3 Idiots’, ‘Wanted’ was by far the most successful movie of 2009 at the box-office. Salman Khan is ready with yet another mega project for ‘2010’ with ‘Veer’. The movie has been produced by Vijay Gilani and directed by Anil Sharma.

Raavan: Made under the direction of Mani Ratnam, the film stars Abhishek Bachchan and Aishwarya Rai Bachchan in the lead roles.

Rajniti: This movie has Ajay Devgan, Katrina Kaif, Ranbir Kapoor, Vivek Oberoi, Nana Patekar and Arjun Rampal in the lead roles. Made under the direction of Prakash Jha, this mega budget film is creating stirs because of the buzz that Katrina Kaif will sport the look of Sonia Gandhi in the film.

My Name is Khan: This much awaited film will re-create the magic of Shah Rukh Khan and Kajol after a long time.

Apart from these, other films which are expected to create magic at the box-office in 2010 include, ‘Patiala House’, ‘Rann’, ‘Ishquiya’, ‘Action Replay’, ‘Bhoot’, ‘Hook Ya Crook’, ‘Kajraare’, ‘Dulha Mil Gaya’, ‘Pyaar Impossible’, ‘Agent Vinod’ and many others.

Avatar crosses $1 Billion mark

‘Avatar’ which is already the fourth-biggest movie (worldwide) of all time is also the fastest film to hit the $1 billion mark in just 17 days of release and is now poised to become the Biggest Hollywood film ever in India.

James Cameron's epic action adventure earned $1.02 billion, with a collection of $202 million during the New Year holiday weekend. It has also crossed the US $1 billion mark at the worldwide box office after three weekends in release, making it the fourth-biggest movie of all time.

 

The only movies ahead of it are Cameron's "Titanic" ($1.8 billion), "The Lord of the Rings: The Return of the King" ($1.12 billion), and "Pirates of the Caribbean: Dead Man's Chest" ($1.07 billion).

 

"This is like a freight train out of control," said Fox distribution executive Bert Livingston. "It just keeps on going."

 

In India, the film has crossed collections of Rs 67 crores, already making it the second biggest Hollywood film ever in India after ‘2012’. And with 3D screens continuing to go houseful and collections rising steadily across India, the film is well on its way to surpassing collections of ‘2012’.

 

Avatar is now also the biggest ever film for Fox in India after breaking Titanic’s record collections of Rs 55 crores.

 

The international total for "Avatar" stands at $670.2 million. The film is playing virtually everywhere. It opened in China on Saturday, and will reach Italy -- its final market -- on Jan. 15.

Sex and nudity in 'Fired'

A bare-backed female figure, with a slight curvature of her breast exposed to camera, holds a severed head of Rahul Bose in the poster of the upcoming horror movie Fired.

 

The film, starring Bose and British model Militza Radmilovic is learnt to have too much blood and gore with an added seasoning of sex and nudity. Militza has reportedly gone nude for a few scenes in the film and there is also a steamy sex scene (you’ll see it on the following pages) between the two.

 

Expectedly, the film, set to release in January 2010, got stuck with the Censor Board seeing red over too much of blood and nudity in its promos for TV.

Rahul Bose does not deny that there’s nudity in the film, but he says he’s against any type of censorship.

 

“I’m in favour of self censorship,” he says. Meanwhile, the blood splattered posters of the film, with Militza’s amply exposed cleavage, are grabbing a lot of eyes nowadays.

Michael Jackson’s burial postponed again

The burial of legendary pop singer Michael Jackson, which was scheduled on his 51st birthday (August 29), has been postponed to September 3.

Ken Sunshine, a representative from the Jackson family, confirmed that the superstar will not be laid to rest until Thursday. Sunshine, however, did not give any reason for the delay.

According to Sunshine, Michael will be buried in a private ceremony at Holly Terrace in the great mausoleum at Forest Lawn Memorial Park in Glendale, California. Only family and close friends will be invited to attend.

It has been nearly two months since Michael Jackson died of as-yet-unannounced causes (on June 26) at age 50.

‘Slumdog Millionaire’ nominated in ten Oscar Categories!

The good news for Slumdog Millionaire have kept on arriving as the movie after winning Golden Globe is nominated in Ten Categories for the Oscar awards including nomination for the best picture and best director for Danny Boyle. The movie is also nominated in best adapted screen play, cinematography, editing, original score, sound editing and sound mixing. Amazingly the movie scored two out of three nominations for best song “Jai ho” (A.R Rahman) and “O Saya” (A.R Rahman and M.I.A).

The other big movie with a good number of nominations is the “”The Curious Case of Benjamin Button,” which bagged whopping 13 nominations including Best Picture and Best Actor for Brad Pitt. Rahman, the film’s composer, also expressed his joy for the nomination in the words. “Slumdog Millionaire has paid magical dividends for so many people around the globe. I am deeply honoured to be a part of a film that has inspired so many,” Other than Danny Boyle who are nominated for best director are Stephen Daldry for “The Reader,” David Fincher for “The Curious Case of Benjamin Button,” Ron Howard for “Frost/Nixon” and Gus Van Sant for “Milk.

‘Drona’ -A very grand premiere

It was grand, grand and indeed a very grand premiere. Attended by an array of glittering stars, Goldie Behl directed film ‘Drona’ was premiered in a gala style in Mumbai.

The entire Bachchan clan was present at the occasion. Aishwarya Rai in a dazzling blue outfit with a perfect poise alongside hubby Abhishek, Big B with wife Jaya, Bollywood’s ‘Baadshah’ Shah Rukh Khan along with wife Gauri, Preity Zinta in a black saree, bubbly Priyanka in a short dress, Sonali Bendre, Sonam Kapoor, Arjun Rampal, Adnan Sami, Neelam- the guest list seemed just endless.

Speaking on the occassion, Abhishek refused to tag ‘Drona’ as a super hero movie, and was hopeful that the audience would like it. He was happy that his entire family was present during the premiere and he was also thankful to his friends and other co-stars for being there.

Aishwarya agreed with Abhishek and said that she liked Abhishek’s work in the film, which she enjoyed. Ash said that Drona was more of a fantasy tale, which would be enjoyed by audiences of all ages, including children.

Big-B was impressed with the visual effects of the film and enjoyed watching it. When asked about the success of the film, Bachchan senior said that it was upto the audience to decide and he could not predict such outcomes. Shah Rukh wished for the movie’s success and hoped it to be as exciting as it promised to be

Adnan Sami hospitalized due to food poisoning

Renowned singer cum composer Adnan Sami has been hospitalized. Sources close to Adnan said that his hospitalization was due to a bad case of food poisoning which he suffered a couple of days back. That also explains the reason why Adnan was missing from the grand music launch of Vikram Bhatt’s film 1920, for which Adnan has composed the music.

When we spoke to Vikram Bhatt regarding the same, he admitted that Adnan could not attend the music launch because of the food poisoning. Adnan’s fans need not fret as the sources close to the singer said that Adnan was doing fine now but was really upset of not being able to attend the music function.

That’s ok Adnan, as long as you recover fast and get back to what you are best at: Music! Here’s wishing you a speedy recovery for Adnan!
