Britney to appear at MTV's VMAs

It was on, then off, then on. We just got word that it is on again, kind of. New, improved Bikini-body Britney will be appearing at the opening of MTV's 25th annual Video Music Awards Ceremony. Britney said that “MTV has long played an important role in my career. How can I not be there to kick off their 25th VMA’s? I'm excited to open the entire show, to say hi to my fans and to be nominated.”

She won't be singing or performing, although there were earlier reports that she would be signing Radar from her 2007 album, Blackout. Britney is nominated this year for Best Female Video, Best Pop Video and Video of the Year for “Piece of Me.”

We also hear whispers that she'll be presenting an award with Olympic Champion, Michael Phelps.

Britney Opening VMAs

MTV can now confirm that Britney will be opening the VMA's this Sunday with "Gimme More," the first single from her latest album which is scheduled to be released in November. Jesse Ignjatovi, the executive producer of this year's VMAs, comments on asking her to return this year, “I guess, looking back, we’ve had a great history with her.” He claims, "Fans that are familiar with her performance on previous VMAs will not be disappointed.” For Spears's big comeback she has collaborated with the illusionist Criss Angel, known for his A&E special "MindFreak." The two have recently been spotted hanging around together, and there have been some unsubstantiated rumors of a brewing romance.
