Colbert shaves his head

Obama told Stephen Colbert to shave his head so that is just what he did. During Sunday's taping of his show live from Baghdad the president ordered General Raymond Odierno to shave Colbert's head. General Odierno then gave Colbert a buzz cut on the spot.

The Colbert Goes to Iraq

The Colbert Report as gone to Iraa on a USO tour called "Operation Iraqi Stephen: Going Commando". They're going to tape and perform the show in front of the troops. It's the first TV show in USO history to produce a week of shows in a combat zone.

Mr. Colbert himself does not seem to be fazed by this seemingly tricky balancing act. Neither he nor his character knows what it’s like to be a soldier, he said in an interview here Saturday night. Only, his character thinks he knows.

“Think of certain reporters who lose themselves in their own self-importance and accidentally give away troop movements and get kicked out of the country,” he said in a not particularly oblique reference to Geraldo Rivera.

“The best way I can show gratitude is to do my show the best I can and make them laugh,” he said. “If I tried to tailor my material to people in the Army, there’d be two things. A, that’d be patronizing. And B, I’d be wrong.”

One can only imagine what's to be expected from him, but you can be sure it'll be something good. What can expect though is to see him with a shaven head. President Obama ordered Gen. Ray Odierno, the commander of the American troops here, to shave Stephen Colbert’s it!

"Operation Iraqi Stephen: Going Commando" will air on COMEDY CENTRAL Monday, June 8 through Thursday, June 11 at 11:30 p.m. ET/PT.

Hillary Clinton on The Colbert Report

Here's a clip of Hillary Clinton's brief appearance on The Colbert report last Thursday. Personally, I don't think it was all that funny, and with all of the prior hype surrounding her stint on the show, I was a bit let down.

COMEDY CENTRAL'S "THE COLBERT REPORT"

Stephen Colbert Cited For Excellence As "One Of Electronic Media's Sharpest Satirists"

"The Colbert Report," COMEDY CENTRAL's nightly talk show in which Stephen Colbert gives his take on the issues of the day and, more importantly, tells viewers why everyone else's take is just plain wrong, has been honored with a prestigious George Foster Peabody Award in the 67th Annual Peabody Awards competition, it was announced.

In announcing the winning programs, the Peabody committee said of the series: "Let none dare call it 'truthiness.' Colbert, in his weeknight COMEDY CENTRAL parody of all that is bombastic and self-serving in cable-news bloviasion, has come into his own as one of electronic media's sharpest satirists."
Considered the broadcast and cable industry's most prestigious prize, the Peabody Awards were announced by the University of Georgia's Henry W. Grady College of Journalism and Mass Communication, which has administered the Peabody Award program since its inception in 1940. The awards will be presented at a luncheon ceremony to be held at the Waldorf-Astoria in New York City on June 16, to be hosted by NBC News' Brian Williams.
