Kings XI Punjab have denied reports that the IPL team was being sold to the Hero Honda group. The reports have also been denied by top officials of Hero Honda.
The view was corroborated by Kings XI co-owner Preity Zinta. The actress said on her Twitter page that she has not sold the team.
"Hi every one ! Just want to clarify that we have NOT SOLD the team to HERO HONDA ! Another example of how the media can get it all wrong!" (sic) is what Preity posted on Wednesday afternoon.
She later added: "I think I must be as shocked about hearing HERO HONDA's name in this as much as they are on hearing that they have bought KXIP !" (sic).
Team co-owner Mohit Burman Burman told Headlines Today that he and the other co-owners had no plans of selling the team in the immediate future.
There had been reports of Hero Honda buying Kings XI for 260 million dollars, but Burman and Hero Honda sources confirmed that no deal had been struck.
The Hero Honda Group though has been linked to the IPL. The company is looking to buy an IPL team in 2011.
