Preity Zinta Shocked over termination of IPL teams

Shilpa Shetty & Preity ZintaShattered, shocked and still absorbing it! The Rajasthan Royals co-owner Shilpa Shetty and Punjab Kings XI co-owner Preity Zinta are still under shock and don’t know how to react to the termination of their respective IPL teams.

The two teams came under scanner because of the breach in their IPL contracts. As a daily reports, on Sunday, the BCCI, after its meeting with the IPL governing council, announced that the two franchises’ contracts were being terminated with immediate effect for violating shareholding and ownership patterns.

The actresses are ready to take the case to the court. Shilpa tweets about this decision, “This is for all those who want my reaction ‘Honestly too shocked to react, just disheartened... cause it’s more than just a team for us! Still havn’t received the termination, will react after. Need to know the basis of this decision.’ In London now (sic).”

While Preity writes on Twitter, “Still absorbing the News! After working so hard in the IPL & putting my everything building this team dis is not what I expected! Shocked !”
It’s believed that the suspended former IPL commissioner Lalit Modi has had financial interest in both the teams. The two teams were also allegedly benefitted because of the Modi connection.

After hearing about the decision, Rajasthan Royals captain, Shane Warne, hopes that BCCI would come to their ‘senses’.

Preity Zinta -I did not retire from movies

Preity Zinta has been off the movies bandwagon these days.

Many are wondering if the once renowned actress has retired from her trade. IPL seems to be number 1 on the actress’s priority list. Why wouldn't it be with it being such a money spinner?

But, Preity has assured her fans that she will indeed be back to charm all of us, "Guys, I did not retire from movies, just took a break. I promise you will only see me on the silver screen post the IPL and in 2011."

We wish the bubbly, actress all the luck and look forward to seeing her on the big screen.

In the meantime she must be shedding her silent tears over her team King XI Punjab which is on a losing spree at the IPL.

Preity Zinta clears rumours of Kings XI takeover by Hero Honda

Kings XI Punjab have denied reports that the IPL team was being sold to the Hero Honda group. The reports have also been denied by top officials of Hero Honda.

The view was corroborated by Kings XI co-owner Preity Zinta. The actress said on her Twitter page that she has not sold the team.

"Hi every one ! Just want to clarify that we have NOT SOLD the team to HERO HONDA ! Another example of how the media can get it all wrong!" (sic) is what Preity posted on Wednesday afternoon.

She later added: "I think I must be as shocked about hearing HERO HONDA's name in this as much as they are on hearing that they have bought KXIP !" (sic).

Team co-owner Mohit Burman Burman told Headlines Today that he and the other co-owners had no plans of selling the team in the immediate future.

There had been reports of Hero Honda buying Kings XI for 260 million dollars, but Burman and Hero Honda sources confirmed that no deal had been struck.

The Hero Honda Group though has been linked to the IPL. The company is looking to buy an IPL team in 2011.

Harvard experience really rejuvenated Preity zinta

After attending the Harvard business school Preity Zinta is all set to dabble in various aspects of the entertainment industry, including production. Preity feels she is now equipped to handle her role as an entrepreneur far better.

Speaking at length on her experiences for the first time Preity says, “I took the plunge in December and went back to school, to Harvard School. Believe me, it was the most enriching experience of my life. I didn’t do it because I wanted to go back to college. I wanted to learn about business management so I could be a better entrepreneur.”

Preity attended classes at Harvard for three weeks every day from 9 am to 11 pm. “When I joined films I never went to an acting school. Then last year I did a two-day workshop with Anupam Kher. It enriched me so much. I wondered why I never went to acting school. Now that I’m an entrepreneur I didn’t want to look back and ask the same question one day. I had to go to the best business school in the world. When I filled out the admission form for Harvard my hands were shaking. I had tried earlier and couldn’t get in.”
When Preity got selected for Harvard she was ecstatic. “I got in on sheer merit and not because I was a star in Bollywood. When I went there I was so nervous. I wasn’t even computer savvy. I was scared I wouldn’t understand a lot of what was said in the classes. And I didn’t. But I wasn’t scared to put up my hand in class and ask questions. No one knew me there.”

Soon of course word spread among the Asians in the campus that Preity Zinta was in their midst.

Laughs the hassle-free actress. “The Indians in the faculty did recognize me eventually. They were taken aback that I was coming to Harvard. But they were discreet. They’d come up and say. ‘Oh my God, what’re you doing here? Why aren’t you doing movies any more?’ At the gym on the campus I saw a work-out dance class for cardio exercises and when I went there they were dancing to Bollywood stuff including my ‘Where’s the party tonight’. When I joined them the dance instructor said, ‘You really move your hips well.’ I had the best time of my life. I felt so proud to see so many young Asian students in Harvard. That was the future. It was fantastic. I learnt negotiations and mergers acquisitions, etc. There were students from all over the world, including of course Asians. More than the just the course, the questions that the students asked were so pertinent.”

Preity is ready to apply her newly-found business acumen to various ventures. “But as far as my role in the IPL cricket team is concerned it’s all settled down now. I don’t need to give that much time to cricket. My focus is back to movies. I’m on the verge of signing new films.”

Speaking about her new equation with Ness Wadia as purely business partners Preity shakes her head, “The media has been trying to find awkwardness in our equation. Why should that be? We’re still good friends. We’re no longer seeing each other. We’re colleagues now. If ever I’m in a situation I’m sure he’d watch my back, as I’d watch his. But would people let go of this fascination with the equation between me and Ness? It’s been one year since we broke up.”

Preity feels her mode of discreet frankness in her public conduct is now getting outdated. “I’m surrounded by celebrities who are constantly discussing their personal lives. I’m the same Preity Zinta I used to be. You won’t find me discussing my private life in detail. I’m in a very good space right now. The only problem is, any man whom I’m seen with in public is automatically linked with me. I’ve come to a place where none of my male friends want to go out with my any more! I think I’ll just have to pick my date for the next public event through a contest.”

Preity has been spending a lot of time outside Mumbai. On Republic Day she was in Delhi hanging out with her closest school friend Shagun. “I watched the Republic Day parade on television. I love the parade. It’s a moment of great pride every year. There’s so much chaos all around us. That’s one day and one sphere of activity where we see a comforting discipline and elegance. It’s always been this way. Whenever I’m not shooting I’m out of the country. Don’t get me wrong. I love Mumbai to death. But tell me what can an actor do in the city if she isn’t working? I can’t go out partying. I can’t even take a jog. What do I do on a Sunday? I can’t even go out. Now (after the Ness episode) it’s become worse . I can’t go out with any guy. If I do I’ve to beg some women to come along, otherwise the guy and I get linked up. I can’t handle it anymore.”

To Preity’s horror she now has to cope with rumors of being linked not only with her co-stars but also with cricketers. “Can you imagine members of my own team! I’ve always maintained I’d never mix business and pleasure. Now that I’m getting fully into business I’m narrowing my chances of finding a man. I know I’d never get into criminal activities, so maybe…..”

And Preity bursts into long throaty laughter.

“Last year I was too busy experiencing life to talk about it. 2009 was a year of learning for me. Now I reap the dividends of what I learnt. I went back to college. I realized there’s so much to me that that I and forgotten. I wasn’t travelling and nursing a broken heart. Just because I wasn’t giving explanations! The worst you can do to someone who’s recovering from an emotional setback is to crowd them. I should’ve been left alone. It’s like a death in your family. Those condolence calls just set your teeth on edge. My way of dealing with my breakup was to move on. The Harvard experience really rejuvenated me. I’ve come back a different person. You watch 2010 is going to be the best year of my life. As Mr. Bachchan would say, it’s going to be mind-boggling.”

IPL III brings Preity-Ness together again

What did Shah Rukh Khan, Preity Zinta and Shilpa Shetty's team buy and sell at the IPL III auction?

Royal Challengers Bangalore owner Vijay Mallya, who bought Englishman Eoin Morgan today, announced that Anil Kumble, who was with him during the auction, would remain the captain of the side in IPL III. "Anil has been successful in the past and he would continue as the captain," Mallya said.

It was nice to see Preity-Ness represent their team together, sit and discuss things out. At the same time IPL III got SRK and Sourav Ganguly together again!

Kolkata Knight Riders co-owner Jay Mehta (along with Shah Rukh Khan) also took the occasion to announce that the outfit had dumped the multiple-captain theory of former coach John Buchanan and Sourav Ganguly would lead the side. Kings XI Punjab co-owner Preity Zinta, whose team recalled South African Yusuf Abdulla today, said Yuvraj Singh would continue to remain a key player despite losing captaincy to Kumar Sangakkara.

"Yuvraj is very, very essential part of the team and one of the top players. We went for a little bit of change amicably but surely we are not the only team that changed captain. Bangalore and Kolkata have done it in the past. We are looking for the perfect balance and let's see if it works," she said.

Chennai Super Kings recalled South African hard-hitter Justin Kemp by paying USD 100,000 and also bought emerging Sri Lankan batsman Thisara Perera for USD 50,000.

Mohammed Kaif, the only Indian player featuring in the auction after his contract was bought out by Rajasthan Royals (co-owner: Shilpa Shetty), went unsold in the first round but was later taken by Kings XI Punjab for USD 2,50,000. Kings XI also recalled South African pacer Yusuf Abdullah.

Royal Challengers Bangalore bid for just one player and got England's Eoin Morgan for USD 2,20,000.

In all, 56 players remained unsold out of 67 that went under the hammer.

preity zinta as host

The weekly chat show, which sated to go on air during mid of December 2009, will see the pretty Preity acting as the perfect hostess while interviewing celebrity guests.

Sources report that, “The show is called The Preity Zinda Show and she has been paid a whopping Rs 10 crore for 20 episodes. The deal was finalised last week when the channel officials met her in Los Angeles where she is currently. Preity is quite excited about her television debut. However everything about the deal is hush hush right now and no one is allowed to talk about it.”

Karnik's episodical film on Preity's IPL team!

The last time that actress Preity Zinta and director Samir Karnik came together was for HEROES, where Preity essayed the role of a brave young Punjabi army widow. What followed was an all round critical acclaim, as well as an average box-office success. And it seems that the young director has found appreciation for his work as Preity has once again hired his services (no, do not jump the gun, she is not venturing into film production!), to bring out a 24-episodic film on her team, Kings XI Punjab.

The one of a kind series will track the players through four cameras in their dressing room and suites. Naturally, being the owner, Preity Zinta will be the star attraction of the series, and already a surprise revelation was made by Samir, and it was that Preity goes to the temple everyday and distributes 'prasad' to all the players. So, a lot of interesting behind the scenes inside stories will be packed into the 24 episodes.

CHECK OUT : Preity, Shilpa and SRK gang up

The team which has its share of cricketing stars like the swashbuckling sixer king, Yuvraaj Singh, the heartthrob of all girls, pace spearhead Brett Lee, and amazingly talented cricketers like Irfan Pathan, the Sri Lankan captain Mahela Jayawardene and Kumar Sangakara amongst others.

Definitely, seeing the amazing popularity of its players, this series should prove to be a bigger success than the team's IPL achievement this year!

Preity zinta Neil to endorse Morellato watches Itallian watchmaker

There couldn’t have been a better pairing exuding impeccable chemistry! Yes, we are talking about the hot hunk Neil Nitin Mukesh and our very own bubbly and chirpy Preity Zinta who have been roped to endorse the Italian brand of watches, Morellato.

Insiders have it that the makers themselves came down to India to rope in this sensational actor for the reason that ‘Neil has got the looks of an international star, and, with his stubble on, he looks rugged.’ It is also said that the brand was particularly looking for the tough look, and that’s exactly the reason they did not settle with any chocolate boy Bollywood star, as they wanted to maintain brand image in an international market also.

Not to mention here that the two are looking so good together that we definitely can see filmmakers queuing outside their house to cast two of them together in some films in future.

Preity Zinta Clear her Relation with Ness

Durban: After denying for so long, Preity Zinta has finally confirmed that she has split with Ness Wadia.

Both co-owners of Kings XI Punjab, the actress and the Bombay Dyeing heir, had been together since 2005. Both of them were at the ground for the match, but sitting separately.

Zinta, apparently sent an official mail to her team to clear the air about her equation with Ness Wadia.

Preity zinta getting cosy with Bret lee

Kings XI Punjab (KXIP) players, Brett Lee, Sreesanth, Kumar Sangakkara and Ranadeb Bose together with club co-owner, preity zinta, connected with fans from around the world and young South African cricket players during an event conducted recently in Cape Town. The event witnessed the launch of the club’s mobile fan club with mig33, the leading global mobile community. The partnership will give KXIP fans the chance to engage directly with each other and Kings XI Punjab players via mobile phone.

The event took place at Nyanga Cricket Stadium in Nyanga Township, just outside Cape Town in South Africa. One of the oldest townships in the area, this community is racked by poverty and has little access to sporting facilities. Over fifty young players from two local schools received the opportunity of a life time when they took on Kings XI Punjab players in the nets.

Preity Zinta like to keep distance

Preity Zinta who’s in South Africa with her cricket team is cool as a cucumber most of the time.

But when people whom she barely even knows get familiar with her, she finds it hard to take. Though she’s most charming, sweet and often genteel with fans, Zinta likes to keep a wee bit of distance. She tells us, “I am fine with people posing with me for pictures, but what I don’t like is when some put their hand around my waist or shoulders! When you don’t know someone too well, it gets awkward and this is something I just don’t like.” So next time you try to put your arm around this lady, remember touching is touché.

Preity's team connects with fans around the world

One of the oldest townships in the area, this community is racked by poverty and has little access to sporting facilities. Over fifty young players from two local schools received the opportunity of a life time when they took on Kings XI Punjab players in the nets.

The Kings XI Punjab players saw the youngsters how to show off their batting and bowling skills. Questions were also fielded on them by the young cricketers who were eager to know their Heroes and about cricket in general. Based on these questions, a young player was selected by the team to walk with their captain for Toss during their inaugural match against the Delhi Daredevils on Sunday.

At the stadium the Kings XI Punjab players as well as preity zinta engaged in a live chat in the mig33 Cricket FanZone. After joining the mobile fan club, Kings XI Punjab fans can “watch” matches live with other fans on their mobile phones in dedicated chat rooms complete with live ball-by-ball commentary, receive important news updates from the team, meet new friends and buy official Kings XI Punjab virtual merchandise in the mig33 content store. Members also get access to the Kings XI Punjab Chat Stadium and chat live with their cricket Heroes.

During the live chat Preity Zinta fielded a range of questions from who she considers her best player to whether she would ever make a movie about cricket. Commenting on her experience preity zinta said, “It was amazing to connect with so many fans from around the world and be so close to them while sitting in South Africa. I hope that our fans will use this platform to ignite passion and support the team during the IPL. I look forward to this association with mig33 and to engaging in future chats with our fans.”

Preity Zinta Ask to Bring the change you want

Not only is Preity Zinta setting an example for every responsible citizen of India to vote, stars like Aamir Khan and Shahrukh Khan will be in Mumbai on V-day (read Vote day) to cast their valuable votes.

Preity and SRK who will be in South Africa during the election time for the IPL season will take a day off from their hectic schedule to be in Mumbai to exercise their vote on April 30 (that’s the day when Mumbai goes to poll). If SRK and Preity are busy with IPL, Aamir, who holidaying in the US, will fly down to Mumbai, just to cast his valuable vote.

This time, most stars (with the exception of Salman Khan ) are keeping themselves away from campaigning. There were rumours that Aishwarya Rai might campaign for her uncle Amar Singh’s Samajwadi Party, but the star is busy with shootings. According to sources, Congress was keen to rope in the bold and outspoken Preity to campaign for them, but the actress is either not interested or too busy.

Not only are these actors doing their bit, in fact, director-producer Karan Johar has joined hands with various celebs to create awareness about voting among people. Karan has made a short film ‘Kuch Nahi Ho Sakta’ for Lead India campaign with the help of young stars who are also youth icons to encourage people to vote and make an informed choice about the candidate they vote for.

Stars like Imran Khan , Kareena Kapoor , Priyanka Chopra , Deepika Padukone , Ranbir Kapoor , Abhishek Bachchan , Ritesh Desmukh , Asin , Shahid Kapur , Farhan Akhtar and Sonam Kapoor took some time out to be part of this joint venture and urged citizens to use their fundamental right without a miss in Karan’s film.

Emirates Title sponsor for Preity Zinta's Kings IX Punjab

preity zinta
No it was not Preity Zinta’s charming ways that made the Dubai-based global airline; Emirates sign a three year sponsorship deal with the Mohali team. It was plain marketability of cricket that made the leading airlines decide to become the title sponsor of Preity Zinta co-owned and Yuvraj Singh led team in the upcoming IPL cricket tournament. Preity Zinta however thanks the airlines that allows you to take a shower on board.

Kings IX Punjab has what the IPL teams do not have - a beautiful and vibrant owner called Preity Zinta. And so for the Punjab team, there is no shortage of sponsors. Till date, the team has tied p with eight other corporate sponsors and global airlines - Emirates is the latest to join the bandwagon. The Dubai based airlines has just announced that it is going to be the title sponsor of the Mohali based franchise that has vivacious Preity as one of its owners and hard-hitting Yuvraj as its captain. "We welcome Emirates to our family as the title sponsor," said Preity Zinta in an official release for the Mohali based franchise, "I would like to thank Emirates for its long-term partnership with the Kings XI Punjab. Emirates is a front runner in sports sponsorships around the world. Emirates is a great airline, with great cabins and a great place to have a shower onboard," she added.

On the global airline’s part, the sponsorship deal is the recognition of the fact that cricket is the number one sport in the country with over one billion population. In a country, where Emirates happen to have a big customer base, cricket can greatly help the airlines connect to their customers. Emirates connects 10 destinations across India with the rest of the world via Dubai. So far as South Africa is concerned, it operates three daily flights to Johannesburg and a daily flight to Cape Town. From 1st October, Durban will be added to its daily flight destinations in South Africa. With IPL fever catching up like wild fire in both the countries, the Emirates investment came as a very astute business move.

Maurice Flanagan, Executive Vice Chairman, Emirates Airlines and Group, said: “Emirates is a great supporter of global sporting events, and we are very excited to announce our partnership with the Kings XI Punjab team.” With cricket being the number one sport in India, it was only natural for us to form a partnership with one of the leading teams in the Indian Premier League; a tournament that invokes such passion amongst the cricket fans all around the world. “This three-year sponsorship commitment will allow Emirates to become closer to our customer base in one of the most important regions on our network.”

However, Emirates is not an all together new player in the international cricket circle. Before grabbing the limelight as the title sponsor of the Kings XI Punjab, Emirates has also been an Official Partner of the ICC. It also sponsors the Emirates Elite Panel of ICC Umpires and Referees. In addition of Emirates, the King’s IX has eight more sponsors. “'All our sponsors are dynamic and share the common passion to promote the game of cricket. With their support and our talented team, Kings XI Punjab is ready to win the IPL trophy,” Preity Zinta concluded in her characteristic spirited way.

Preity Zinta Launches Kings XI Punjab Team's T-shirt

Preity Zinta, chairperson Kings XI Punjab, charmed at the launch of her team’s T-shirts for the upcoming IPL season at Taj Lands End, Bandra Mumbai on Saturday April 11.

April 12, 2009, - Preity Zinta, chairperson Kings XI Punjab, charmed at the launch of her team’s T-shirts for the upcoming IPL season at Taj Lands End, Bandra Mumbai on Saturday April 11.

The team, captained by Yuvaraj Singh, is sponsored by Emirates Airlines and eight other sponsors.

The 34-year-old Heaven on Earth star looked cool wearing the team’s red and silver Tee with black pants.

The Tee has been designed by the actress with the help of the team's apparel partner Reebok.

Preity’s Jennifer Aniston inspired hairstyle was a charm! Opting for a sporty look she accessorized with just her good fortune stone rings - a yellow topaz gold ring in right hand index finger and a cat eye ring in right hand middle finger.

Her makeup was restrained: she wore clear lip gloss and 50's style eyeliner and shadow on top lid only with lots of mascara.

A no show at the event was Kings XI Punjab co-owner and Preity’s beau - Ness Wadia. His absence is likely to be gleefully played up by a Mumbai tabloid that, despite denials by Preity, steadfastly maintains that the couple has split.

Other sponsors for Mohali IPL team include Gulf Oil, Nimbooz, Netlinkblue, Reebok, Springbok Intl, Royal Challenge, Dabur Glucose-D and Orbit.

Vikram chatwal lost in Preity Zinta's Dimple smile

Preity Zinta after splitting away from Ness Wadia is not sitting mum and howling over her break up. Infact, the bold lady has soon found solace in the arm of a new man by the name Vikram Chatwal who is a New York-based businessman and hotelier and onetime model.

Both Vikram and Preity are lonely souls. If Preity has broken up with Ness then Vikram’s marriage with model Priya Sachdev is also on the verge of ending. The bonding between the two forlorn souls was best seen at Lakme Fashion Week, held at Mai Mumbai.

At the recently held Lakme Fashion Week when Vikram walked the ramp with Naomi Campbell, Preity from the audience seat was heard hauling and cheering thereby giving clear indication of some open secret affair. They not only hang out together on the show but at the party also they were seen hand in hand.

We can say that another relationship in the tinselville has gone kaput. Preity and Ness has been together for five long years.

Big B goes out of way to cheer Preity Zinta's IPL team

NEW DELHI: Bollywood megastar Amitabh Bachchan cheered up Preity Zinta's Indian Premier League (IPL) team Kings XI Punjab by giving a short TV bite on her behest.

"Preity had called last evening for a request - her IPL team was hugely depressed and she was wondering if I could do a small TV bite to cheer them up. I did that and I hope it makes them happy," Amitabh posted on his blog.

The two actors featured together in films like "Veer-Zaara", "Kabhi Alvida Naa Kehna" and "The Last Lear".

The second season of the IPL is starting April 18 in South Africa.

Commenting on the upcoming Twenty20 series, Amitabh wrote: "Cricket has become so big and important. And the T20 series, now shifted to South Africa due to security concerns and concerns of its reflection on the elections, is a sheer delight."
