Its impossible to get a room like this without the right architectural details or the right bones, but when you got it, flaunt it, as they say. Featured in
Architectural Digest this deconsecrated church built in the 11th century is a crazy cool place to be able to call home. Located in the Chianti region of Italy, the interiors are designed by Susan Schulyer Smith, while the the reconstruction was overseen by Siena-based architect, Marco Vidotto.
The modern day living room was once the church's nave. Check out those ceilings and I just love the furniture and the styling done to this room (the statue in the alcove, the candles). Inset is what the room looked like before work was started on it--what a difference!
The 1800s sacristy is now a study.
I think its great how the interiors of this space are faithful to the original building. Just beautiful, a true dream home.
