Dave Letterman finally topped Jay Leno in the nightly ratings game on Monday. Too bad this never happened when they were competing for viewers with their "Tonight Show" and "Late Night" programs. Letterman brought in 5.7 million viewers, while Leno had 4.3 million viewers.
Television viewers tuned in Monday night to hear Letterman apologize to his wife for cheating on her with various female staffers over the years. Letterman revealed these facts because he had been the target of a $2 million extortion plot.
Regarding his wife, Letterman stated, "She has been horribly hurt by my behavior, and when something happens like that, if you hurt a person and it's your responsibility, you try to fix it." No word yet from his wife, Regina Lasko.
