Watchmen: A critical Flop Blockbuster

Watchmen will be another paradox in film history. Already early reviews are condemning it for being everything from weak on character development to campy and weak on special effects. Even the fight scenes are getting panned.

So why will this film be a blockbuster? For the same reason Star Wars made money. The hype and the background of the story. Look at the Harry Potter films. Are they that exciting to watch? You never feel any anticipation of sitting on the edge of your seat. But if you've read the book (graphic novel) you want to see it come to life.

Watchmen has had fans and faithful waiting forever to see actors dressed in their favorite character costumes. People have wanted to see if a director would remain faithful to a blue man with his penis exposed. Watchmen is a film that fans must have. Watchmen is the final chapter in the story of Watchmen. But watch and see what happens after this film's first week at the box office. The word will get out and Watchmen will be ridiculed and relegated to a failure in film making. Yet it will have made a bundle of money.

What is sad is that Watchmen set the stage for everything we now see in Super Heroes. Even the movie The Incredible's owes it's premise to Watchmen by the foundation of political and social expansion of how Super Heroes would really fit in the real and modern world. Stories written 20 years after Watchmen such as the entire Marvel Civil War pull from the ideology of Watchmen. Watchmen changed how Super Hero stories are written to this day. If you never read any other Super Hero graphic novel, read Watchmen and you'll gain a new appreciation for everything you could possibly read after.

SJP Hints At 'Sex & The City' Sequel

We are liking Sarah Jessica Parker's look at the Oscars last week. (Okay, a little prom-esque but if you can't get crazy formal at the Oscars, where can you?) The actress wore a Dior Haute Couture silver gown to the ceremony last Sunday night.

While on the red carpet, Parker, 43, hinted at a 'Sex & The City' movie sequel in the works. When asked about the likelihood of a sequel to last year's film adaptation of the popular television series, she said: "It looks very promising. I do not know anything yet, not one single thing."

She also added that the movie's producer/director/writer Michael Patrick King is hauled away somewhere writing a script for the new movie. The last movie was such a huge hit, we're sure all the Sex & The City crew will be back for me, they'd be crazy not to, there are loyal fans out there everywhere!

MTV's 'The Hills' Season 5: Coming Soon

Here we go again. 'The Hills' Season 5 is set to come back to MTV sometime in March. Check out this trailer to find out what we can expect from the show. From the looks of things, Spencer is still crazy. Heidi and Lauren may actually mend their broken friendship. Is Audrina still going to be hanging around with good ol' Justin Bobby? You'll have to tune into the show to find out!

The star of the show, Lauren Conrad, is featured on the new the April 2009 cover of Seventeen, on stands March 3. When asked how she's changed since the first season, she replied, "Honestly, it’s difficult for me remember what I was like before I had a mic taped to me. But I think I’ve become a little bit more independent and not quite as.. I don’t want to say it, but pathetic. There are episodes that I watch when I actually annoy myself. I just want to be like, get it together!"

The Scoop On Late Night Show Switches!

We know it's confusing! Last week NY host Conan O’Brien signed off and is moving his show to L.A. He’ll take over the Tonight Show from Jay Leno later this year. In his place – enter Jimmy Fallon, the new host of Late Night. Jimmy’s first show is Monday and People has confirmed that Justin Timberlake will help his old friend kick it off his first show. The two starred in the classic SNL skit, "The Barry Gibbs Talk Show" together.

Robert De Niro will also be a guest on the show. Pretty strong for ratings, we think! "I thought it would be kind of good to have my first guy be probably one of the toughest people you could interview," Fallon said recently.

Fallon has also booked Clap Your Hands Say Yeah for his March 4 show, and "Gossip Girl" hunk Chace Crawford for March 6.

Bad News For Jewel

Uh, oh! This doesn't sound good. Singer/poet Jewel may be out of 'Dancing With The Stars' before it even starts on March 9th! She recently revealed in her blog that tendonitis in both knees may be the demise of her 'Dancing' career. "I guess I really over did it on the rehearsal front!" the 34-year-old singer said. Bummer - we thought it would be fun to see Jewel on 'Dancing With The Stars,' wonder what will happen to her!

"My knees have been hurting so badly that I finally broke down and talked to Ty's (her husband) knee doctor yesterday. He said I have tendonitis in my knees and that I have to start a course of medicine to try and bring the swelling down. Yuck! It's mainly my left knee, and I can't believe I hurt it so badly," she wrote.

Samuel L. Jackson IS Nick Fury

It's official. Marvel has locked in Samuel L Jackson as Nick Fury for no less than NINE count em folks -- nine films. Gee did we see this coming? After all, he did give Marvel his consent to use his likeness for Nick Fury in The Ultimates graphic novel series.

Nick Fury is a key character to many Marvel enterprises: S.H.I.E.L.D., The Ultimates, The Avengers and even the Weapon X Program (Wolverine's origin). Fury's claim as a super hero is super strength. I won't bother to explain how he got it as Marvel will most likely re-establish that origin for the film incarnation of Nick Fury. After all, they changed his race from Anglo-American to African-American, so there is no telling what else Marvel has in store for the character.

NINE may be a record breaking string of appearances as a single character. Expect to see Nick Fury in just about every Marvel movie coming in the next few years from Iron Man, Hulk and Fantastic Four to perhaps even a Spider-Man film IF there is to be an (New) Avengers.

Preity Zinta’s Candian film gets a new name

Preity Zinta’s Candian film about domestic violence, ‘Heaven On Earth’ has got a new name. It’ll be released in India under the title ‘Videsh’.

The film shows a Punjabi woman as the victim of domestic violence in the immigrant community in Canada and is set to open in Indian theaters.

‘Heaven On Earth’ had opened to very positive response in Canada. Preity even bagged Best Actress Award at 44th Chicago Film Festival for her performance. She won Silver Hugo Award for Best Actress “for her strong yet subtle performance as a woman struggling to keep her dreams despite brutal realities”. It has also been nominated for the best original screenplay at the 24th Genie Awards. Preity has bagged a nomination in the best actress category.

The Hindi version of NRI filmmaker Deepa Mehta’s Punjabi film will get that name.

The movie will be released under the banner B.R. Films and is scheduled for March release but the production house hasn’t confirmed any date yet.

Sanjay Bhutian, CEO of BR Films said in a press statement, “We didn’t want our Indian audiences to misinterpret the title ‘Heaven on Earth’ to be an English film. Hence we changed the film’s name to ‘Videsh’ as this would connect well with the Indian audiences.”

Let’s hope the movie rocks in India too, the way it has rocked abroad.

Good News For CW

Wowza! The CW Network is doing pretty well! Six series have been slated to return in the fall on the network. Fans of "Gossip Girl," "One Tree Hill, "90210," the Thursday combo of "Smallville" and "Supernatural" and the reality hit "America's Next Top Model," can breathe easy. All these shows have been renewed and are coming back for all new seasons.

Awaiting a decision regarding its fate is freshman drama "Privileged," which has developed a strong fan base but has been a modest ratings performer.

All new episodes of 'One Tree Hill' and 'Gossip Girl' will return on March 16th.

‘Hisss” will have the lengthiest kiss

Gone are the days when Mallika Sherawat’s ‘Khwahish’ created nationwide stirs due to as many as seventeen liplocks. In the days to come, Bollywood viewers are going to get their due visual treats of passionate steamy kisses in intense romance scenes.

The latest buzz in the B-town says that the kiss in Mallika Sherawat’s ‘Hisss’ will be the lengthiest kissing scene ever in Bollywood. That is what the buzz from B-Town is. However, it is not the sex kitten Mallika who will be seen locking her lips on-screen, but the artists in the stretched out lip locking scene are Irfaan Khan and Divya Dutta.

The film is being directed by the Hollywood film maker Jeniffer Lynch and Irrfan did feel jittery when Jennifer told him about the steamy scene with Divya. The director sensing that Irfan and Divya were quite tensed promised them that the scene will be taken care of in the most possible aesthetic manner. The scene was shot in Kerala. The actors had to do the act in front of the entire unit and not break the lip-lock until Jennifer Lynch asked them to do so.

Priyanka and Kareena are pals once again

Kareena Kapoor and Priyanka Chopra in all possibility have ended their two year long fight and have turned up pals again or so it seemed the way the two gorgeous ladies were spotted chatting away merrily at a FICCI event recently. Both Kareena and Priyanka were honored at the FICCI Frames and IIFA event for their contribution to the entertainment industry and the two had a great time together.

The awards function was held to mark the 10th anniversary of Ficci-FRAMES and International Indian Film Academy. This is the first time the two ladies have been spotted talking to each other since their spat two years ago.

At this first FICCI- IIFA awards, Amitabh Bachchan, Shan Rukh Khan and eight other leading actors from the Bollywood were felicitated for the ‘Most Powerful Entertainers of the decade’. Others felicitated included actors Aamir Khan, Priety Zinta, Shilpa Shetty, Akshay Kumar, Aishwarya Rai, Hrithik Roshan, Kareena Kapoor and Priyanka Chopra.

Saifeena in the first issue of ‘Harper’s Bazaar’

‘Harper’s Bazaar’ is having their very first India issue released this March and who could be the better choice than to feature the hot couple Saifeena in the issue. The magazine recently covered a photo shoot of the couple in the exotic locations of Mauritius with Kareena wearing a cue from Giorgio Armani Spring 2009 dress and Saif wearing an Ermenegildo Zegna suit.

The pics came out great with the couple looking very much in love but it is only Kareena who graces the cover of the first edition of Harpers Bazaar India in a floral strapless maxi.

Seth Rogan's Green Hornet Gets New Director

In the never ending dilemma plaguing the Sony film Green Hornet, a new director has been hired to replace Stephen Chow; Michel Gondry whom made a name for himself using Bullet Time in music videos before the Matrix movies. Gondry's hit Eternal Sunshine of the Spotless Mind put him under great pressure to repeat and he has yet to experience that success again.

The Green Hornet is one of those characters in the comic book world that has no special abilities as a vigilante with car named the Black Beauty that had more abilities than himself. In fact during the late 1960's Green Hornet was even upstaged by his sidekick Kato who was played by little known martial artist... Bruce Lee. Oddly enough the ex-director Stephen Chow is rumored to possibly be sticking around to play the part of Kato.

The young stars were all smiles after they hopped on the hilarious The Simpsons Ride and snapped photos with Woody Woodpecker during their stay.

Nicky Hilton Makes Citizen's Arrest!

Totally badass! Those Hilton sisters may be pretty cool after all! We haven't heard of a celebrity making a citizen's arrest, well, ever? Note to anyone who wants to mess with Nicky, don't!

Hilton was leaving the International House of Pancakes on Santa Monica Blvd. in West Hollywood, Calif., just before 5 a.m. on Saturday when Michael Broadhurst, 50, allegedly pushed her to the ground from behind. Geez, besides being ridiculously rich, what did she ever to him?

A sheriff’s deputy inside the restaurant came out to check on what he referred to as a “commotion” and found Hilton placing the man under a “private person’s arrest.” The man is ordered to appear in court on April 21.

Double Baby News: Sporty Spice & Nicole Ritchie

Nicole Ritchie and her rocker beau Joel Madden have announced they are expecting baby numbero dos! The couple already have a 13 month old daughter, Harlow. They aren't wasting any time. We approve. This couple lays pretty low under the papz radar and celeb drama department, it seems like they are pretty good parents! Congrats to the couple.

The Oscars is uptight, rigid and stuffy. No one has any fun, they put too much emphasis on useless entertainment segments instead of letting the people that win these awards, open up and enjoy the moment.

One night before the Oscars. All the same stars were there, but it was a REAL and exhuberant night where everyone was glad to be there. If the Oscars want to be a great venue again... rethink the music segments and montages. Give the night back to the actors.

Halo Movie takes a backseat to D-9

With the Halo movie on indefinite hold due to budget constraints it looks like the Halo fans will just have to make do with District 9. District 9 is based off a short independent movie from back in 2005 by Neill Blomkamp called Alive in Joburg which is a documentary (fictional of course) about humans and space aliens revisiting the apartheid issues of the past. Here is below:



Peter Jackson is producing and of course his cronies at Weta Workshop are handling the special effects. The plot is actually a mystery. One just can't help but wonder if this is Halo in disguise. After all Halo's Earth setting is based in South Africa (New Mombasa).

If you have not seen the Halo promo video short put together in anticipation of the Halo film, it is a must see for any Halo fan. But honestly, if you are a Halo fan. You've seen this stunning short. It' was originally in three parts. There is combined CGI and real film action. Here it is in it's entirety:




You have to think considering this level of realism, the budget would have to be sky high. But really This film would blow the viewership of Titanic out of the water.

The 81st Annual Academy Award Winners

What a show it was at the Kodak Theater in Hollywood for the 2009 Oscar ceremony! As predicted it was the year for "Slumdog Millionaire" with the film taking in eight awards including Best Picture of the Year. There were no dry eyes in the house when the late Heath Ledger won the Best Supporting Actor Oscar for his role as the Joker in The Dark Knight. The award was accepted by his parents and sister, and their speech was quite moving. Other big winners were Sean Penn as Best Actor for his role in "Milk" and the lovely Kate Winslet finally took home a golden statue for Best Actress in "The Reader". As promised the style of this year's award ceremony was a bit different, and I think it definitely worked. It was great to see the winnner's from years past introuducing the nominee's as a group, and it gave the show a much more intimate feel. Also, it was a great idea to speed things along by having one presenter hand out mulitple techinical awards that could be grouped in the same vein, instead of awarding each one individually.

In my opinion, I thought host Hugh Jackman gave a solid performance as host, and the musical numbers were certainly enteraining. Be sure to stay glued to PopCultureMadness.com for all the latest post-Oscar news, fashion, and memorable moments!

Rock superstars U2 will perform an unprecedented five nights in a row on the LATE SHOW with DAVID LETTERMAN, Monday, March 2-Friday, March 6 (11:35 PM-12:37 AM, ET/PT) on the CBS Television Network.

This will be the first time that a musical guest will perform an entire week on the CBS late night broadcast.

The band will release their 12th album, No Line on the Horizon, March 3. They performed their first single off the album, “Get On Your Boots” at the 51st Annual GRAMMY Awards last weekend, and the song is already climbing the music charts.

U2 last appeared on the LATE SHOW on Oct. 29, 2001, where they performed and Bono was also interviewed on the broadcast. On June 10, 1997, Bono appeared with Larry Mullen Jr. to talk to Letterman on the program.

The LATE SHOW with DAVID LETTERMAN is a production of Worldwide Pants Incorporated. Barbara Gaines, Maria Pope, Jude Brennan and Rob Burnett are the executive producers.

Drag Queen takes Homecoming Queen Crown

In an 'anything's possible in America' moment, a George Mason University student has become what the nations first legitimate drag prom queen. Ryan Allen an openly gay student at the University decided to take a shot at being prom queen on a lark; not taking the entry serious.

In fact Ryan entered under his drag queen persona Reann Ballslee (an obvious play on words). What Ryan didn't take fully into account was the level of diversity the school embodied.



The George Mason Senior basked in the honor glowingly "I was very touched by how Mason was so supportive through the whole process of allowing a boy in a dress to run for homecoming queen. I feel like the win is bigger than me. It says a lot about Mason and the student body. it says a lot about the campus that not only do we have diversity but we celebrate it." At worst even the more conservative population had nothing more negative to say other than, "I just think it's kind of silly." And who said that? The school's College Republican's representative Alyssa Cordova.

So really have we seen it all here in America? The lack of commotion or controversy over this news seems to indicate that there is very little left in the world to surprise us. I think at this point it would take space aliens landing (in America of course) to really make news in this era.

Preity Zinta in Videsh

Preity Zinta would be soon seen in Videsh. No, she isn't going abroad, rather her internationally acclaimed Deepa Mehta film Heaven on Earth's title has been changed to Videsh to suit Indian sensibilities.

Says Sanjay Bhutian, the CEO of BR Films, "We did not want our Indian audiences to misinterpret the title Heaven on Earth to be an English film. Hence we changed the film's name to Videsh as this would connect well with the Indian audiences."

Being produced by BR Films, The film has already made waves in Canada and the leading actress Preity Zinta has even won the best actress award at the Chicago film festival. The film has also earned nomination in 29th Genie Awards.

The film is all set to release in March.

Using America

In a recent interview actor Simon Pegg (Sean of the Dead) revealed his willingness to use America. You see he's having a baby and wants to have it in America for no other reason but for his child to possess dual citizenship. "I'm hoping for a baby girl, but I really don't mind what we have. We're thinking of having it in America as the baby will then have dual citizenship."

It's a subtle reminder that while the world resents America, the world doesn't mind using America. What do you think?

Actors Rachel Bilson and her longtime boyfriend, Hayden Christensen are reportedly engaged! PEOPLE and Page Six are reporting that the couple are making it official and got quietly engaged over the holidays. Hmm, if we are just finding out about the ring now, they are pretty stealthy! They seem to be a celebrity couple that is successful with flying low on the papz radar!

When contacted, Bilson's rep told PEOPLE, "I don't comment on my clients' personal lives."

A rep for Christensen had no comment. Nothing official yet it seems. Maybe they will have a Star Wars themed wedding, get it? Bad joke. The engagement news was first reported by the New York Post's Page Six. Take a look!

Golf star Tiger Woods just released some official family portraits of himself, wife Elin and two kids — Sam Alexis, 20 months, and Charlie Axel, 10 days — as well as family pets, dogs Yogi and Taz.

“Sam is very excited to be a big sister,” the 33-year-old 14-times major champion said on his official website last week. “And we feel truly blessed to have such a wonderful family.” Go Tiger!

BAND ID: The next step in the evolution of music distribution for the independent artist..

The UK may just have something here! We know lots of bands and upcoming musicians/artists/etc look at our blog so we wanted to share this cool idea with you!

Today sees the launch of band-id.co.uk, a new way for musicians to distribute and sell their music online. The BAND-ID music download card is a collectable, full colour plastic card printed with the artist’s specific artwork and details such as web address or email address. At the back of the card is a scratch panel, which conceals a unique PIN code. The artists’ fans use this code to download their digital music from the secure website.

The BAND-ID card is a physical medium to drive digital music sales. It gives the artist the opportunity to sell their music to fans who might not want to purchase a CD, or a digital version for artists who normally release on vinyl. It helps them to take advantage of the impulse buy at their gigs and encourages the fan to download their music without having to search amongst other artists at other music download services. When the fan redeems their code on the website, they also supply their email address which allows the artist to contact them about future releases. Iron Man 2 cast update

Can you say "Ya nim-noga penny myuichka Pa-Rooskee?" Let's hope Scarlett Johansson can.

The revolving door of cast members in Iron Man 2 has made another turn in just two days, and the rumor is that Scarlett Johansson has snatched the coveted role of Black Widow, the Ruskia agent and probable love interest of Tony Stark in the next Iron Man movie.

While others has reportedly wanted the role and some actively sought out the role, Scarlett stole the job without batting an eye. Only days ago Eliza Dushku rolled out her own Internet campaign to earn the job who also has learned some Russian.

Meanwhile for those of you not in the know, Robert Downey Jr. has ended speculation that Mickey Rouke is part of the production. The role of Crimson Dynamo is now officially up for grabs again. Heck, who knows--maybe Crimson isn't even in the next film. The loose lips in the production of the film may be the cause of such changes and shake-ups.

Welcome to show-biz, kid! Jennifer Lopez brought her dressed-up twins onto the Madison Square Garden stage Saturday night, following a performance by husband Marc Anthony. We wonder what those kids were thinking! Pretty cute, though! A baby in a tux will always get you cooing, right?

Salma Hayek Tricks Us All!

Huh? We didn't see this one coming, last we heard, this couple called it quits after having a beautiful baby girl together! Well, actress Salma Hayek tied the knot with the Gucci Group CEO, French billionaire Francois-Henri Pinault, in a civil ceremony in Paris, France on Saturday (Valentine’s Day, February 14). How romantic (yet sort of cliche, too.)! According to Forbes, Francois is worth an estimated $16.9 billion. Holy moley! That kid was born to the right parents!

Salma, 42, and Francois, 46, met in Italy in 2006, announced their engagement and had a baby, Valentina Paloma, in September 2007. They broke off their engagement July 2008 but later reunited. They definitely pulled a fast one on the media, I bet no one bothered them on their special day! Congrats to the happy couple!

Brown's Official Apology (Does He Mean It?)

Chris Brown has released the following statement via his spokesperson concerning the altercation between Brown and Rihanna, 20, on Feb 8th:

“Words cannot begin to express how sorry and saddened I am over what transpired. I am seeking the counseling of my pastor, my mother and other loved ones and I am committed, with God’s help, to emerging a better person. Much of what has been speculated or reported on blogs and/or reported in the media is wrong. While I would like to be able to talk about this more, until the legal issues are resolved, this is all I can say except that I have not written any messages or made any posts to Facebook, on blogs or any place else. Those posts or writings under my name are frauds.”

Hmm, a decent apology or do we smell...a little BS? What do you think? Can we ever forgive Chris Brown for what we think happened between him and Rihanna that night?

Did the New Star Wars Suck?

It's a question many people have raised since the Phantom Menace and the appearance of Jar Jar Binks. Does the the New Star Wars suck? A new documentary asks that very question.

Yes, an entire contingent of dedicated fans and critics have assembled to put George Lucas on trial in "The People Vs George Lucas".

Now when I first saw this, I thought, "My God do we have to discuss Jar Jar Binks again." I mean in my opinion the movies are done. It is what it is. All we can do now is accept the story for what it is. And really people... these movies were not made for 20 year olds, or 40 year olds. They were made for kids. That is the funny thing about all this. We grew up loving Star Wars but we lost sight of why. We were kids and it was never that hard to accept the world of Star Wars when you are a young boy or girl.



But... hey. As a grown, up I had to notice the flaws. If you pushed me for my opinion. I have some.

For instance, how about developing characters? Darth Maul?.. offers nothing. He shows up; looks angry and menacing, fights and dies. What is with that? I felt no real reason to fear this character, no appreciation for why he used a double-sided light-saber or any connection with him as a truly villianous character.

Then my big problem that held the remaining two movies back... Hayden Christensen can't act. The whining he did as a petulant Anakin Skywalker makes me want to fast forward any time he goes into that bit during the films. I prayed Lucas would force him into some sorty of heavy duty acting clinic after Episode One. He needed to look at how Mark Hammel did his slightly whiney routine. It was sublime. Hayden's embodyment of the Skywalker family triat was like fingernails going down a chalkboard. That was a real low point in the films.

So in they same way I've had my say about Darth Maul and Hayden Christensen--many other Star Wars fans are taking up arms to convict George Lucas of destroying his once beloved Star Wars franchise. Check it out. http://peoplevsgeorge.com

Why So Classy?: For The Love of Ray J

And with this announcement, For the Love of Ray J has displaced Rock of Love Tour Bus as my guilty trash extravaganza! (God help the poor soul that had to clean out that tour bus...it must've smelled like Pike Street in there...)

SO ANYWAY, 22-year-old Monica Leon, who goes by the name Danger (that's the classy one with the tattoo on her face) on For the Love of Ray-j, has run off and told the National Enquirer that she's 3 months pregnant with Ray-J's baby. What's even more special is that Monica claims they made a baby on the set of that elegant show.

What a beautiful thing. The baby is going to grow up to find out it was conceived on rented sheets on a rented bed in a rented house...in front of the whole VH1 viewing audience. For the Love of Ray-J is the trashiest home movie ever.

Monica told the Enquirer, "There is no way the baby can be anyone's but Ray J's. I was locked in a mansion with him and 13 girls from October until the end of December. Toward the end of the first week of filming, we made love for the first time - and we slept together every night after that! I didn't want to fall for Ray J, but he was so charming it became impossible not to. I was in love with him, and as strange as it might sound, I think he loved me."

Made love?! MADE LOVE?! Honey, I hate to be the bearer of bad news (and not to sound like a Catholic school nun), but when a dude you've known for a week has unprotected sex with you (and 13 other women!), that's NOT love...that's GRADE A, UNABASHED STUPIDITY! If you didn't catch a baby, you would've caught a, *ahem* (in a Victorian voice) "social disease"!

But seriously, VH1 could find a way to turn this into a show. For the Love of a Child Support Check! Maury Povich would host, obviously. (Oh no...I just gave them an idea...)

Rebooting Superman - Again?

Word is the Wachowski Brothers MAY take the helm of the next SuperMan film. The Brothers second unit director James McTeigue is also on board. However someone may need to remind the crew that bullet time photography in film has already be replicated in a SuperMan movie based on their Matrix film technique. Superman needs more than a good director. What it needs is a good story. And sadly Warner Brothers wants to reboot it. Just like Hulk.

What bothers me as I think it may bother you too is that why do we keep rebooting franchises? We all know how SuperMan came about. We know the origin of Batman and re-origin of Batman and Ironman, The Fantastic Four, Punisher, Catwoman, Spider-Man and god knows we know the orgin of The Hulk! Did I miss anyone?

Some of these origin stories were so bad, the franchise was killed.

Why does Hollywood keep beating us over the head with reboots? Just move the story forward please! Take for instance Hellboy. The origin of Hellboy was OK. But the second Hellboy film was a fun ride. My message to Hollywood, "Please give us a story now! Take us on a fun ride!" Origin plots are wearing out the genre of superhero films.

The logic behind the reboot? DC is taking Marvel's recent tack, to develop one character at a time in their own story slowly tying them together. This was all started in the Spider-Man franchise where characters were introduced as cameos early and eventually played prominent roles.

Dispite bringing on big name directors such as the Wachowski Brothers, Warner Brothers have failed to figure out how to consistently make a good franchise work because they think one dimensionally. A Wall Street Journal article points out this flaw by WB Pictures Group President Jeff Robinov:

Like the recent Batman sequel -- which has become the highest-grossing film of the year thus far -- Mr. Robinov wants his next pack of superhero movies to be bathed in the same brooding tone as "The Dark Knight." Creatively, he sees exploring the evil side to characters as the key to unlocking some of Warner Bros.' DC properties. "We're going to try to go dark to the extent that the characters allow it," he says. That goes for the company's Superman franchise as well.

This is rediculous. Superman is not brooding and dark. Nor is Wonder Woman. Sadly we will be getting orgin films from DC on: Flash, Green Arrow, Green Lantern and Wonder Woman. Rather than just focus on the human frailties, Warner Brothers is going to give us Batman the Dark Knight versions of SuperMan, Wonder Woman and others?

This certainly puts a nail in the coffin for now on any Batman vs SuperMan match up.

We're hearing that Debra Messing’s miniseries-turned-TV-series, The Starter Wife, has been canceled!

USA Network tells EW that Starter Wife was a “critical and creative success,” pulling in just an average of 2.4 million viewers each week. The network added that the Dec. 12 season finale served as a “satisfying conclusion” to the franchise. Check out the interviews we held with some of the cast members from the show? We thought things were going well! Guess not!

Sure, this is definitely what normal people look like when they head to the gym for a workout. Yep, just a typical workout outfit seen here on Kim. NOOT!

Why is she dressed like this? Reality TV star Kim Kardashian will lead her own exercise DVD. This is what Kim wrote on her official blog about her latest venture: "The first day was my ultra glam day! The shoot is very stylized and fashion forward. I didn't want to wear typical workout clothes. "It was a grueling 12-hour workout day, but I made it through!"

She finished filming a three-part exercise workout series last week. It's titled Fit In Your Jeans By Friday and will be released in stores some time in the next few weeks. Valentine's Day Ideas!

Whether you can't wait for candy and flowers or the 14th is looming over your head like a rainy cloud, we've got some ideas for Valentine's Day that won't break the bank or your heart! Here are some ways to celebrate Valentine's Day a bit more romantically and creatively.

- Get some poster board and decorate it with all your special memories! Movie ticket stubs, receipts from dates, favorite candy wrappers, and other little reminders of the special times spent together.

- You know how there's the famous "12 Days of Christmas?" Well, how about the "14 Days to Valentine's Day?" Send a goodie each day - it doesn't have to be anything big or expensive.

Britney Re-Hires Old Assistant

Here's more proof that Britney Spear is getting back on track! Phew! Former assistant Felicia Culotta, who most recently worked for The Jonas Brothers, has returned to Team Britney, just in time for the Circus tour, which kicks off March 3rd in New Orleans. We are so close! PS. Jamie Spears (Britney's father) and Kevin Federline have both signed a document which clears the path for Britney taking her kids on the road.

"Britney has always held a special place in my heart, and over the course of the last year I have seen her work harder than she ever has in her entire life," Felicia Culotta said in a statement last night on Britney Spears' official site. "Sadly, I am really going to miss the Jonas boys, but I felt I had to be a part of this exciting time in Britney's career. I love Britney and missed her dearly."

We had heard that Britney and Felicia had a serious fallout and Britney fired Felicia when she was going through her.. crazy stage. Culotta had been Britney's assistant during the prime of her career. She knows the ropes! Good luck!

Katherine Heigl & T.R. Knight Leaving Grey's

Who will watch Grey's Anatomy now if two of its biggest stars announced they are leaving ABC's medical show? Katherine Heigl and BFF costar T.R. Knight are leaving Grey’s Anatomy. Both actors have asked to leave.

However, ABC needs to sign off on letting them out of their contracts, which extend six years, and that hasn't been done. Will you continue watching the show now if they're gone? Do you think the show will even be able to continue with its ratings anyway?

“Right now, the whole thing is in the hands of their agents and ABC’s lawyers,” an insider tells EW. “Something will probably be worked out soon, but it’s a safe bet that Katherine and T.R. won’t be returning as series regulars next season.”

The network and studio say they cannot confirm anything, and Katherine Heigl's and T.R. Knight's personal reps have declined to comment on the subject. Are we really saying goodbye to George and Izzie?

2/13/09 UPDATE: In a PEOPLE interview at the NAACP Image Awards, the show's creator Shonda Rhimes called the exit reports "interesting rumors," going on to say they're "not true." She went on to say that "rumors become fact very easily." So we're thinking that means that they are not leaving after all!
