Britney court video; Kevin retains sole custody

Britney Spears went to court Monday in an unsuccessful attempt to regain visitation rights to her two sons.

She arrived at the courthouse but immediately left after being swarmed by the paparazzi. She did not attend the custody hearing, so instead ex-husband Kevin Federline and other witnesses participated in a day of closed-door testimony - including information about the recent incident where Spears refused to return sons Sean Preston and Jayden James to Federline's bodyguard after a visit, resulting in a standoff and her hospitalization.

Commissioner Scott Gordon retained the Jan. 4 suspension of Spears' visitation rights and scheduled another hearing for Feb. 19.

"The word victory is not something Mr. Federline or his counsel would ascribe to this. There is no joy. This is a grave situation for all," Federline's attorney, Mark Vincent Kaplan, said outside the courthouse.

He added that while Federline agrees with the ruling, "his goal, his hope for the future is at some point he will be able to parent the children with the participation of their mother."
