Yes, you read that right!
According to our friends at Perez Hilton, here is the reasoning for Britney's early release today (skipping the 72 hours we thought the California Roads would be safe):
A source tells us, "It is very difficult to keep a patient in a psych ward at a hospital for longer than 24 to 48 hours. Even if you have tried to committ suicide (which Brit did not do) you are released as soon as you are no longer a threat to yourself. It is very very rare for someone to be in the psych ward of a hospital for more than a week or two even after attempting suicide."
Moments before Britney actually left the hospital, DR. Phil stopped by here room. Later, he had this to say:
"My meeting with Britney and some family members this morning in her room at Cedars leaves me convinced more than ever that she is in dire need of both medical and psychological intervention. She was released moments before my arrival and was packing when I entered the room. We visited for about an hour before I walked with her to her car. I am very concerned for her."
Latest word is that she was not on drugs or booze at the time of her police stand-off Thursday night.
As always, Team Federline kept things in perspective: "I'm not happy about any of these events," Federline attorney Mark Vincent Kaplan said when he left the closed-door emergency child custody hearing Friday afternoon. "There's no winners here."
