Ellen Pompeo Gives Birth

Ellen Pompeo, one of Grey's Anatomy's finest doctors, gave birth to a baby girl on September 15th. Pompeo and husband Chris Ivery named their first child Stella Luna Pompeo Ivery.

Stellaluna. Sound familiar? Maybe because it is the name of a bat from a children's book. The bat gets separated from her mother and adopted by a family of birds. Hopefully, this Stella Luna doesn't get separated from her ecstatic parents.

The Real Reason T.R. Knight Left "Greys"

If you, like me, are a Grey's Anatomy fan and still wondering the real reason T.R. Knight got the axe this past season, wonder no more. In a recent interview with Entertainment Weekly, Knight spoke all about the real motives behind his exit from the hit show.

Apparently it all comes down to the series creator, Shonda Rimes. Rimes drastically cut his screen time, appearing only for 48 mins. in the season's first 9 episodes. Knight stated, “No other series regular’s character had ever disappeared like mine did this past season.”

Things all first started going south after the Isiah Washington incident, where Washington used an anti-gay slur against T.R.. It took Rimes 3 monthes to publicly condemn Washington. Knight also claims that Rimes was one of many who wanted him to stay in the closet, and him outing himself only strained their relationship more.

Knight states, “My five-year experience proved to me that I could not trust any answer that was given [about his character, George]. There just comes a time when it’s so clear that moving on is the best decision.” And Knight is doing just that. He is moving on to theater, and leaving Greys in the past.

T.R. Knight Officially Leaves "Grey's Anatomy"

It's official! George O'Mailey is dead!! Entertainment Weekly has reported that Knight has officially been released from his contract. Rumors have been swirling since early in the fifth season of the show that Knight was unhappy with his diminishing story lines. This was suggested as something necessary for the shocker of a season finale, in which the audiences find out the John Doe who had been disfigured by a bus was really George. "I really wanted you to not notice that he wasn't there for most of this episode. I don't think anybody noticed because of the way we laid it out this season," Rhimes explained.

Now that we know the fate of George, curious minds want to know what will happen with Izzy, Katherine Heigl's character. She like George, appeared to have died in last season's finale. Also much like Knight, rumors have said that Heigl has also wanted off of the show. I guess we're just gonna have to stay tuned.

Katie Heigl Turns 30!

“Grey’s Anatomy” actress Katherine Heigl was spotted with her husband/singer Josh Kelley and some friends enjoying a night out at the Desert Rose restaurant in Los Feliz. Katherine had a 1920s-themed party to commemorate her birthday! How fun!

Looks like Katherine was happy to trn 30, we know some young people dread that age but look how happy she is! Ha!

In other Grey's Anatomy TV news, the show scored its biggest audience since its season premiere this past Thursday, according to overnight data. The 'Ghost of Denny' helped the drama nab 15.7 million viewers! Good for them, we know the show doesn't sparkle like it used to, people were completely obsessed! Glad to see it's still doing well, right?!

Heigl Stays on "Greys"

Katherine Heigl, despite her displeasure about last year's writing, will be returning to "Grey's Anatomy" the network's programing chief said.

Heigl previously commented that she was not up for an Emmy due to poor writing for her character. These comments sparked speculation that the actress may depart from the primetime drama.

"She's absolutely staying with the show," ABC President Stephen McPherson said. "There's an unbelievable story line for her this year, which is really central to everything that's going to go on this season."

Mystery Bikini

What TV and movie actress with the fab bod was caught recently sporting a rainbow bikini by the pool with her iPod in hand? (Hint: She was just under some pressure by the media for voluntarily taking herself out of the running for the Emmy nominations!)

Grey's Anatomy Season Finale

The Grey's Anatomy season finale was last night, and it looked like everyone paired up by the end of the two-hour episode.

Meredith and Derek finally got back together - sort of. McDreamy makes Meredith wait for him while he goes to break things off with Rose, but Mer will probably get cold feet. George and Lexie hook up by the end, and the chief reunites with his estranged wife. Alex learns Rebecca/Ava has a personality disorder, and despite his good intentions, he cannot care for her. Although Alex tries to sleep with Izzie for comfort, he ends up crying in her arms.

And finally, McSteamy backed away from Callie and Erica Hahn's burgeoning relationship, and by the end of the episode, Callie and Erica are passionately kissing.

Brooke Smith, who plays Hahn, said at the beginning of the season, she and creator and showrunner Shonda Rimes decided that her character would not be gay.

"Earlier this season, we felt it was too obvious that a strong, powerful woman would be a lesbian," Smith said. "In fact, Dr. Hahn decided she wasn't going to have a relationship at work, though clearly she came to the wrong hospital."

Also on Grey's Anatomy last night, the chief agrees to let George take the intern exam again, since George told him everyone else has gotten a second chance when they've made mistakes except for him. Bailey realizes she can't do everything, so she gives the clinic to Izzie - kind of a strange move, considering Izzie not only killed a man, but several episodes ago she also made a patient undergo a gazillion unnececssary tests so she could win the most points in a contest all the residents were having.

If you missed the episode, you can watch a stream of it on ABC.com.

'Grey's Anatomy' star adopts baby girl

Brooke Smith, who plays Dr. Erica Hahn on ABC's 'Grey's Anatomy,' has adopted a baby girl from Ethipoa with her husband, cinematographer Stephen Lubensky.

The couple also have a five-year-old daughter named Fanny.

"You know, why not?" Smith told People in October about possibly adopting. She said she and her husband had been to Africa several times and filmed a documentary together on conservationists in Zimbabwe. "We still might end up there some time."

Smith, 40, is still probably best known for her role in 'Silence of the Lambs,' but she joined 'Grey's Anatomy' full time in the fall as head of the cardiothoracic surgery department.

Dr. Alex Karev was Hospitalized

Justin Chambers, the thirty-seven-year-old actor who plays Dr. Alex Karev on Grey’s Anatomy, volantarily checked himself into the psych ward at UCLA Medical Center (the same place Britney spears is staying) on Monday and checked himself out again on Wednesday. A rep has reported that Chambers is “exhausted and suffers from a sleeping disorder.”

The father of five has been married to his wife Keisha since 1993 and began his career as a model, working for Armani and Calvin Klein’s frangance campagin. In addition to Grey’s, he has starred in movies such as The Zodiac and The Musketeer.

Grey's Anatomy Double-Date!

Grey’s Anatomy co-stars Ellen Pompeo and Eric Dane (aka Dr. McSteamy) go on a double date with spouses Rebecca Gayheart and Chris Ivery on Monday at famous Madeos Italian restaurant on Beverly Blvd. in Los Angeles. I wonder what that dinner conversation was like!

Ellen Pompeo ties the knot

Grey's Anatomy star Ellen Pompeo reportedly wed fiancé Chris Ivery in a quiet ceremony on Friday.

Pompeo's father confirmed the marriage to People, noting his daughter just didn't want a big thing."

A city clerk performed the ceremony at City Hall in Lower Manhattan, and New York City Mayor Michael Bloomberg was a witness for the couple.

Ivery, a native of Boston, and Bloomberg, from Medford, Mass., have mutual friends.

Bloomberg gave the couple his best wishes and "a lifetime of happiness."

Pompeo and Ivery, a record-producer, met in a Los Angeles grocery store in 2003. They began dating six months later.

"We have a lot in common," Pompeo told People of Ivery. "We're from the same hometown, almost."

After the wedding, the bride and groom, both 38, were spotted at a Knick's game in Madison Square Garden. Pompeo is then returning to Hollywood to continue filming her hit TV show, although the on-going strike threatens to shut it down.

Emmy nominations out

The nominations are in for the 59th Annual Emmy Awards, which will take place on September 16th. Most nominations were expected, however the NBC show 30 Rock received several more than most new shows- a Best Comedy Series nomination, along with Tina Fey and Alec Baldwin both being nominated. Another surprise it that the intense action thriller 24 was left out of the Best Drama Series category. The Sopranos is yet again heavily nominated, as is every guy's favorite show, Entourage. Tune in to Fox in September to see who walks away with the Emmy or just tune in to see if anyone pulls another Isaiah Washington.

Burke gets the boot!

Back in January Grey's Anatomy's on-screen drama turned to on-set drama after Isaiah Washington (Preston Burke) used a homophobic slur when referring to castmate T.R. Knight.

Washington wasn't fired from the hit show though, despite some complaints that he should have been. He opted for the ever-popular-in-Hollywood rehab route instead.

But it still doesn't come as a surprise that his contract option has not been picked up, resulting in a Burke-less next season!

Apparently the homophobic slur scandal was only part of the problem and he's had a history of questionnable on-set behavior - pretty amazing considering the show's only been around two seasons! It's not surprising news, though, considering Washington's response to his firing: "I'm mad as hell and I'm not going to take it anymore."

Doesn't seem like much of a loss to his castmates or the show now that his relationship with Cristina is over.
