Sad news for 'American Idol' winner David Cook. He told a crowd at the 12th Annual Race for Hope 5K event in Washington, D.C this weekend that his brother Adam died. His brother battled cancer for 11 years. Adam Cook died at 1 a.m. Sunday morning at a hospice in Terre Haute, IN.
"I actually lost my brother yesterday to a brain tumor, and I couldn't imagine being anywhere else right now," the singer said at the fundraiser for brain cancer research. "I lost one today, but I gained 9,000, and I will be here every year that they will have me," he added.
Cook was the honorary chairman for the event, and his team raised more than $97,000.
