Megan Fox to play Catwoman

Megan Fox has reportedly signed on to play villainness Catwoman in the sequel to The Dark Knight. The film, directed by Christopher Nolan, is due for release in 2011. The sequel will also star Christiane Bale and Michael Caine.

Apparently, Fox's doppelganger Angelina Jolie was in talks for the role. Coincidentally, Fox is allegedly the favorite to take over Jolie's former role as Lara Croft in a new Tomb Raider film. We're sure males all around the globe will be eagerly awaiting Fox's appearance in the infamous leather catsuit - once worn by Michelle Pfeiffer and Halle Berry.

Just Married: Maggie Gyllenhaal & Peter Sarsgaard

Wedding Bell Alert: Dark Knight actress Maggie Gyllenhaal wed her actor boyfriend, Peter Sarsgaard, in an intimate ceremony in Italy over the weekend.
"We are happy to confirm that Maggie and Peter were married on Saturday," their reps told E! News.
The couple, who have been together since 2002 and have a 2-year-old daughter, Ramona, finally tied the knot after 7 years! Congratulations! The couple got married in a small chapel in Brindisi, on the Adriatric Sea on Saturday, with brother Jake and girlfriend Reese Witherspoon in attendance.

Golden Globes Nominations Announced; Heath Ledger Gets a Nod

What better legacy can an actor leave behind than making Jack Nicholson look like a Boy Scout?

How about a Critics Choice Awards nomination, a Golden Globe nomination, and -- hopefully -- an Oscar nomination?

The Golden Globes nominees were announced this morning, and some of the usual suspects were on board: Tom Cruise as Best Supporting Actor in Tropic Thunder; Brad Pitt as Best Actor in The Curious Case of Benjamin Button; Angelina Jolie as Best Supporting Actress in The Changeling.

Of course, Heath Ledger picked up a nod as Best Supporting Actor for The Dark Knight. He was the only one to be nominated for anything from the film.

I don't normally get involved in active campaigning for celebrity awards, but THIS is different: Heath WAS the Joker. He made Jack Nicholson look like a Boy Scout. He played it to the hilt. And he died for the role. That's not hyperbole -- that role messed his head up so bad, that...well, we know what happened. If he doesn't get EVERY single award for it, I will personally fly to California to recount the votes myself.

Just In Time For The Holiday Season....

Looking for gift ideas for your friends and family? I'd go with The Dark Knight on DVD is out on December 9th! The record breaking box office phenomenon is coming out on DVD just in time for the holiday season!

The 2-disc DVD has over 3 hours of bonus material, an inside look at the making of the movie with director Christopher Nolan, two separate documentaries exploring the psyche of Batman and much more! The movie is still bringing in crowds at the movie theaters though, it's so crazy!

Dark Knight Hits New Record!

"The Dark Knight" on Sunday became the second movie in Hollywood history to top $500 million at the domestic box office, raising its total to $502.4 million, according to estimates from distributor Warner Bros. Geez! Funny, one of the PCM writers just saw it again this weekend, too! We're happy to contribute to those numbers - it's so good!

The film hit that mark in just over six weeks, half the time it took "Titanic," which reached $500 million in a little more than three months. "Titanic," the biggest modern blockbuster, remains No. 1 on the domestic charts with $600.8 million.

Morgan Freeman in Serious Condition

Morgan Freeman was injured in a car accident Sunday night in Mississippi. The 71 year old actor is in serious condition and was taken to a hospital in Memphis Tennessee. The wreck happened late Sunday night and the jaws of life were used to reach Freeman after his car left the highway airborne and landed in a ditch. While being extracted from his vehicle Freeman was lucid, conscious, and joking with some of the rescue workers.

Update 8.5.2008:

The actor broke his elbow and arm, as well as injuring his shoulder. He underwent surgery Monday evening, his rep stated:

"Morgan is doing well after his surgery last night [Monday] to reconnect nerves and repair damage in his left arm and hand. The surgery last night lasted four and a half hours. He's visiting with family this morning. As of this morning he's up and walking around and looking forward to his release in a few days."

Batman Breaks More Records

In a Titanic feat The Dark Knight broke the $300 million mark domestically after grossing an estimated $75.6 million in its second weekend.

The film was initially predicted to ceiling at $400 million, a prediction that now seems overly conservative.

"Certainly, $400 million, boom, that's going to happen," Media by Numbers box office analyst Paul Dergarabedian said today.

"The trajectory it's on has never before been seen. This is absolutely unprecedented."

The Dark Knight's second-week sales was, per studio estimates, the largest ever, despite the nearly 50 percent loss in business.

So far The Dark Knight is the fastest growing film out there. According to Box Office Mojo, it's the fastest movie to reach $100 million (two days), $200 million (five days) and, as of today, $300 million (10 days).

At the moment The Dark Knight holds the number 23 spot for all time domestic box office sales. According to experts the film has a good change at beating out Titanic for the number one spot. Only $301 million left to go Batman. And they say we're in a recession?

Dark Knight Shatters Box Office Records

The Dark Knight continues to break records on its way to what is likely to be the biggest 3 day opening in U.S. box office history!

The movie has already broken major records for biggest take from midnight showings - it made $18.4 million, surpassing the $16.9 million record previously set by Star Wars: Episode III - Revenge of the Sith.

The Dark Knight took in $66.4 million yesterday alone, ridiculous! We are so happy for its success! We've seen it and LOVED it, have you? Read a review from our staff writer, Kristyn, here!

Monday, July 21 Update: "The Dark Knight took in a record $155.34 million in its first weekend", said Dan Fellman, head of distribution for Warner Bros.

Teen decapitated by Batman ride

A teenager at the Six Flags Over Georgia was killed around 2-2:30 p.m. today when he was hit and decapitated by the amusement park's popular Batman roller coaster, which can travel at up to 50 mph.

Cobb County police are investigating the death, which occurred after the 17-year-old scaled two six-foot fences marked with "Danger" and "Do Not Enter" signs.

"We do not know why this person was intent on gaining access to this restricted area,"
Park spokeswoman Hela Sheth said in a news release.

"Some witnesses have stated that the individual was trying to retrieve something he had lost. Others reported that he was trying to touch the ride," she added. "This is merely speculation at this point, and we are working with park visitors and local police to learn more."

Another Six Flags representative said the teen was one of a group of youth who jumped over the perimeter fence as the ride was coming, although none of the other kids, nor any of the people on the ride, were injured.

The victim, whose name has not been released, was reportedly with a church group at the time, although his family was at the park, as well, the Atlanta Journal Constitution wrote on its website.

"Our thoughts and prayers are with the family," a statement form the park read. Cobb County reports have not returned calls seeking comments, not have they confirmed that the teen was decapitated.

The description of Batman: The Ride is described on the Six Flags website as such: "Soar like a bat out of Hades, through, above—and even underneath—Gotham City, suspended from the rails of one of the most innovative coasters of all time."

It is described as "one of the most spell-binding coasters ever," with "one-of-a-kind heartline spin producing a feeling of weightlessness."

It is not to be confused with the new The Dark Knight roller coaster, located at Six Flags Great Adventure. The ride's May 15 launch preceded the upcoming film by several months.

Christian Bale Talks About Heath Ledger: Dark Knight Interview Exclusive

Actor Christian Bale, the star of the new Batman movie, The Dark Knight, revealed some deep thoughts about his late co-star Heath Ledger in the new issue of Parade.

Your co-star Heath Ledger, who plays The Joker, died tragically after the film wrapped. Do you mind talking about him? No, listen, I want to talk about Heath. When you miss somebody, you want to speak about him. He was a unique character, a very infectious character. He was a good man, and I was glad to have spent time with him. He was somebody who I’d been seeing on a daily basis for months. It takes a long time to accept that someone’s gone, when all body and mind are telling you that this is somebody you will know for a great deal of time. He was something of a kindred spirit to myself.

It must be difficult. Much of it has to do with my respect for his daughter, whom he loved so dearly and whom he would talk about so often. For me, that is of incredible importance. I hope in a small way that The Dark Knight can be a celebration of his work. Not like the hideous circus after he died, which I felt was an invasion of a private life. This movie is not a personal home video. This is what he did. I hope people will embrace that in the correct fashion.

Ledger family will go to Batman premiere

The family of Heath Ledger will attend the July 14 premiere of The Dark Night, The Los Angeles Times reported. The film was Ledger's last before his death in January, and in it he plays The Joker.

The New York premiere has been dedicated to the late actor, and the end of the movie includes a memoriam to him.

In Britain's Empire Magazine director Christopher Nolan called Ledger's portrayal of the villain "the absolute extreme of anarchy and chaos."

"We didn't want to show what made him do the things he's doing, because then he becomes less threatening. I like to say he cuts through the movie like [the shark in] 'Jaws,'" Nolan said. "He just kind of comes and goes and causes complete mayhem."

The Dark Night will be released in theaters July 18. In it, Christian Bale reprises his role as Batman, and Aaron Eckhart plays district attorney Harvey Dent.
