Amrita Rao has caught many eyeballs with her glam makeover in the upcoming film ‘Shortkut’. The actress, known for her girl-next-door image, says she doesn’t want to get typecast.
“The journey has just begun for me…I did not want to be typecast in any role. Hence after Vivah and Welcome To Sajjanpur , I was happy to be cast as a glamourous diva in Shortkut,” the actress is quoted as saying by a news agency.
Speaking about Shortcut which hits the screens on July 10, Amrita said she liked the originality of the script and “the characters were well etched.”
“I play an actress in the film opposite Akshaye Khanna . I was cast opposite him in Milan Luthra's Deewar a couple of years ago when I was a newcomer...Akshaye has evolved as a performer since then,” she noted.
In ‘Shortkut’, Amrita plays a girl who gives up her career for the sake of love.
“It needs immense strength to give up a starry career when you are at the top and even more guts to walk out on your family to be with the man you love,” Amrita revealed.
Amrita added that the film has a lot of funny moments, thanks to Arshad Warsi .
“It has lot of funny elements because Arshad Warsi's character is very funny and his sensibilities are completely different from mine or Akshaye's characters. Shortkut is a love story, drama and a thriller which will make the audience laugh,” she said.
When asked what she looks for while signing a film, Amrita said: “I look for great characterization, amazing dialogues and variation in the graph of the character when portraying a role.”
