Yet, Deepika Padukone was chosen for the item song in Telugu film ‘Love 4ever’ because director Jayant believed she fitted the bill perfectly. Deepika, who herself isn’t fond of the ‘item girl’ tag, said she did the number because it was intrinsic to the script and not just a glamourous add-on in the flick.
But the first look of the song would have many jaws dropped with disappointment.
Firstly, Deepika looks too thin to pass for a siren down south, where only voluptuous and curvy bombshells like Namitha are deemed hot by the audiences.
On top of it, Deepika’s styling appears below par. In one still, the Om Shanti Om girl has her hair open and ruffled. In another, her hair, apparently oiled, is knotted in a plait.
Shot at a Hyderabad studio, the song shows Deepika dancing with a bunch of minimally dressed foreign beauties. The song was choreographed by Ahmed Khan.
Gauging the initial response on the Internet by movie buffs, not many people find Deepika hot in the item song.
