Kid Rock did not perform Friday at the Download Festival in England due to dehydration. The rocker was rushed to the hospital only minutes before his set, the British press has reported. Organizers of the festival said Kid Rock, 37, was hospitalized in Nottingham, nearly a hundred miles north of the capital.He was due to perform on the main stage at 3:30, but just minutes before an announcement was made that he was unwell. His spokesman told the music magazine NME that his client had stomach cramps and was dehydrated. He had reportedly attended a party the night before that continued until the early morning of June 13.
Kid Rock stirred up controversy earlier in the week when he spoke to the The Guardian about his new hit, "All Summer Long." The reporter asked him about questions about whether the song is a racist anthem, a debate she compared to the confederate flag.
"I still use the confederate flag. Why should someone be able to own any image and say what it is?" he replied. "Sure, it's definitely got some scars, but I've never had an issue with it. To me it just represents pride in southern rock'n'roll music, plus it just looks cool."
