Former Miss Argentina Dies after Plastic Surgery

Solange Magnano, crowned Miss Argentina in 1994, died over the weekend after receiving surgery for a gluteoplasty, or, in layman's terms, "butt implants." The cosmetic procedure went horribly wrong the day after the surgery, when the liquid injected into Magnano's buttocks "went to her lungs and brain," causing a pulmonary embolism - a blocked artery in the lung. She died after spending three days in critical condition. The former beauty queen was only 38, and the mother of 7-year-old twins. The official cause of death is currently still under investigation.

Magnano's close friend Roberto Piazza stated about the tragedy: "A woman who had everything lost her life to have a slightly firmer behind." Her untimely death is sure to serve as a warning about the risks that come with surgery of any kind, let alone elective procedures.

Self Image Issues Effect Everyone, Even Kathy Griffin

In People magazine, actress and comedian Kathy Griffin opens up about a career long struggle with her self image and weight issues. According to Griffin, she has been advised throughout her entire career to get her nose fixed and maintain a sleek, slender figure.

"I was told repeatedly, 'You would be pretty if it weren't for that nose. You'd work more if it weren't for that nose.' You would think I had a nose the size of Texas. I was young and impressionable and started to believe it, so I got a nose job," Griffin tells People.
In recent months, Kathy Griffin's freshly toned body has been plastered on magazine covers. She even began making television appearances touring her house in a bikini to show off all the work she has done (or that she's had done, either way.)

What mixed message is Kathy Griffin sending to women today? Griffin admits, even brags, about the Joan Rivers-esque amount of plastic surgery she has endured. Even with several procedures under her belt (no pun intended) she says that it's a daily struggle to maintain her workout regime and strict diet.

If more celebrities would work to stop the misconception that being malnourished, underweight, and overexercised is acceptable in society, poor self esteem issues wouldn't affect women to the extreme that it does today. Kathy Griffin takes an honest standpoint about her past experiences with beauty issues and discusses them candidly with People magazine.

It's All In the Eyes

Did you think Joe Biden looked a little funny during the debate on Thursday? I know I did. There was just something about his eyes that didn't add up, or should I say sometimes they didn't move like a pair. Apparently Biden has been reaching across the isle to John Kerry to find a good doctor to do some work.

The NY Post hypothesized that the Delaware Senator had some work done on the eyes, and the claim is backed up by a top manhattan plastic surgen who said he would bet his next paycheck on it. Does he know something we don't?

Cristián de la Fuente has surgery

Dancing with the Stars finalist, actor Cristián de la Fuente, had successful surgery on his injured left arm Saturday, People reported.

"I was able to get a perfect repair of the bicep. Cristian will spend about a week in a splint, then start rehab," his surgeon, Dr. Elattrache, told People. "He will have a full recovery and full strength back" in three weeks.

The actor, who will star on USA Network's new series In Plain Sight, premiering June 1, also made a statement to People: "Thank you to everyone for their concern and well wishes."

On Dancing with the Stars April 21, de la Fuente was unable to dip his professional partner, Cheryl Burke, due to the injury. He was unable to perform their dance and was taken to the hospital in an ambulance.

According to People, he is recuperating at his Los Angeles home with his wife and daughter.

Ashley Tisdale's new nose

The Disney star performed at the Z100 Jingle Ball concert Friday night, her first public appearance since she had surgery to correct a deviated septum.

Tisdale said she still had some pain and swelling, and she claims she never wants to undergo plastic surgery again.

"I don't believe in plastic surgery. I really think natural is more beautiful. This was not about changing me. I am comfortable with myself," she said.

Her plastic surgeon, Raj Kanodia, whose clientele includes Jennifer Aniston, Ashlee Simpson and Cameron Diaz, said that "he's ecstatic with the results."

"Functionally her nose is better and cosmetically it's better because I got rid of the effects of the [injuries]," he said.

Ashley Tisdale gets a nose job!

Teen queen Ashley Tisdale had a procedure performed on Friday in Los Angeles to repair a deviated septum.

"Growing up, I always knew I had a deviated septum on the right side of my nose, which caused trouble breathing," the actress said while recuperating at home on Monday. "The older I got, the worse it got. I went to get it checked out, and the doctor told me the septum was 80 percent deviated and that I had two small fractures on my nose."

The procedure took five hours and Tisdale told People she is still not feeling great. "It's uncomfortable and I hope this is the only time I ever have to go through something like this," she said.

The High School Musical star said she does not advocate plastic surgery, and she realizes her celebrity with young girls could cause the procedure to be misconstrued.

"I didn't do this because I believe in plastic surgery. I did this to help my health. I literally almost could not breathe out of the right side of my nose," Tisdale said. "I want my fans to know the truth. I'm not someone who is going to act like I had nothing done. I just want to be honest because my fans are everything to me."

Heidi Montag Confesses to Plastic Surgery

The Hill’s star, twenty-one-year-old Heidi Montag finally confirms that she has undergone a breast augmentation and a rhinoplasty to reduce the size of her nose. In between season two and three of the hit MTV reality show, Montag increased her bra size from a 32A to a 32C.

Heidi claims that she had been taunted from an early age about both her nose and breasts and had consistently been jealous of girls who had a larger chest. According to an Us interview, Montag says that "On the beach, if I was standing next to a girl with big boobs, I’d be like, I hate her!" (Perhaps, this could be the real underlying factor that led to the feud between Heidi and archenemies co-star Lauren Conrad?) In her interview with Us, Heidi also states that one of the reasons she was so troubled by her nose was that "When I looked down, I could see my nose. I couldn’t get away from it!"

Heidi reveals that after surgery it was hard to recover. She claims that she was forbidden to exercise because it could lead to internal bleeding, which must have temporarily put the kibosh on her sex life with now fiancée Spencer Pratt. However, despite the unfortunate side effects, the surgery seem to have been well worth it for both Montag’s self-esteem and the show's ratings.
