Chuck Norris on teen's hit list

Walker, Texas Ranger himself was on a New Jersey teen's hit list, according to the state police. The 16-year-old high schooler's list also included three classmates and a school staff member.

In an online statement from Superintendent James F. Chapman, a teacher found the list on a class desk. Chapman said that although the list was a joke, recent school shootings required that it be taken seriously.

The Pennsauken police were notified and two 11th grade boys were taken into custody. Their homes and school lockers were searched and no weapons were found.

"We didn't see any of the signs that there was any sort of intent to follow through with anything. He didn't have any sort of weapons or history of violent behavior," Jason Laughlin, spokesman for the Camden County prosecuter's office told E! News. "It's pretty much office policy that if any kind of hit list comes up you always charge."

The teen was charged with one count of making a terroristic threat. Chapman said it is meant to send a message and he doubts the boy, who is unidentified due to his age, will serve any time.

"We are proud of the safe learning environments we have created in our schools and any students who participate in such acts will face serious consequences," Chapman added.

Norris was notified of the supposed plot and released a statement Thursday to TMZ, turning the incident into a life lesson.

"When I learned... of the story about a high school student in New Jersey faced with expulsion from school and possible other problems after being charged with compiling a 'hit list' that contained my name, my first instinct was to say nothing. Not to risk making something bigger out of it than it is," Norris said.

"But I realize this is not the best course, for such behaviors are exactly the warning signs we have ignored for far too long, emanating from a growing at-risk population of young people in this country," he added. "In today's world we must always be vigilant, not just in stepping up protection and emergency preparedness in schools, but in reaching out to those lost souls who feel marginalized and disenfranchised by the world around them."

Norris is an American martial artist and action movie star who has trained and acted with Bruce Lee. Norris is a strong conservative political activist who also started the program Kick Start, which encourages at-risk children to resist peer pressure to use drugs or drink alcohol by making martial arts part of the school's physical education curriculum. The program started in a single Houston school and expanded to more than 37 schools in the Houston and Dallas area.
