According to US Weekly, Joe Simpson was the cause of daughter Jessica and her boyfriend Tony Romo's brief split last month.
The magazine reports that the elder Simpson asked Romo to drop his current agent so that he could manage the NFL quarterback's career and $67.5 million contract with the Dallas Cowboys. In addition, Joe Simpson also offered to sell the news of a pending engagement and wedding to the highest-bidding magazine, when the couple decided to take those steps.
Us Weekly asserts that Romo told his girlfriend if her father did not back off, their relationship was over.
"It's unfair to criticize me for what every manager does for his or her clients," Joe Simpson told the gossip magazine. "In this business, there people can quickly turn on you, who better than a parent to be working for his children?"
And while it appears that Romo and Simpson are back together, an insider said they are still in "a talking stage."
"It's in a middle-of-the-road state," the anonymous source told the magazine.
