Eliot Spitzer's resignation will go into effect Monday and the U.S. Attorney's office said there was no deal in place for the governor regarding possible prosecution.
"I look at my time as governor with a sense of what might have been," Spitzer said, with his wife Silda standing at his side. "There is much more to be done, and I cannot allow my private failings to disrupt the people's work."
"Over the course of my public life, I've insisted, I think correctly, that people regardless of their position or power take responsibility for their conduct. I can and will ask no less of myself," he said.
The case involving Spitzer started when banks noticed frequent cash transfers from several accounts and filed suspicious activity reports with the IRS. Reports are taht he tried to take back or re-name deposts sent to the escort agency, Emperors Club VIP.
Kristen changed her legal name in 2006, according to records in Monmouth County NJ Superior Court, from Ashley R. Youmans to Ashley Rae Maika DiPietro and the aspiring singer calls herself Ashley Alexandra Dupré on her myspace page, and seems to be milking the publicity for everything she can.
