Oscar winner Marion Cotillard has gotten herself in some trouble with comments that she had made about Americans and 9/11. She must have thought that no one in America would understand what she was saying.
Vincent Toledano, her Parisian lawyer, tried to change around his client's comments, saying that what she said about 9/11 was taken out of context. The original trascript did indeed say that 'Americans destroyed the Twin Towers themselves because they wanted it rebuilt and blowing it up was cheaper than renovation.'
Well Marion, you should watch that Oscar because saying something like that might get it snatched right off your fireplace
UPDATE: The Best Actress Oscar winner for her portrayal of Edith Piaf in "La Vie En Rose" said she regrets the comments she made regarding 9/11.
"I think we're lied to about a number of things," Cotillard said in a February 2007 interview that has been making the rounds on the Internet recently. "We see other towers of the same kind being hit by planes. Are they burned? [There] was a tower, I believe it was in Spain, which burned for 24 hours. It never collapsed. None of these towers collapsed. And there [in New York ], in a few minutes, the whole thing collapsed."
During the same interview, the French actress also said she was not convinced that a man really landed on the moon in 1969. "I saw plenty of documentaries on it, and I really wondered. And in any case I don't believe all they tell me, that's for sure," Cotillard said.
More recently, the star told Access Hollywood, "My statements on that program have been taken completely out context and been crafted into a story that has no merit."
She did apologize for her comments, though. "At no point did I intend to contest the horrific attacks of September 11, 2001, one of the most tragic days in all of history," she said. "Nonetheless, I sincerely regret if my comments offended or hurt anyone."
