A resident, hiking near his home in Mammoth Lakes, Calif., stumbled across what appear to be two cards with Fossett's name on them that were issued by the Federal Aviation Administration in Illinois. The man also found a small amount of cash and a weather-worn jacket. The location is in California, near the Nevada border. No body has been recovered (yet)

He was officially declared dead on February 15th, 2008, at the request of his widow who was tired of hearing (and rightly so) about her husband faking his death because of supposed debt.
